Default How can I increase power for my 2002 accord V6, so that I would be able to go a 1/4 mile in 14 sec.

Guys give me any good ideas about increasing the hp, and torque on my '02 V6 accord. I already got AEM cold air intake, dc sports headers, tanabe dual exhaust, but I do not see a big improvement on the 1/4 mile.
I used to go 1/4 mile in 16.250 sec at 86 mi/h, without the headers and exhaust (weather temperature was like 45-50 degrees.
Now with the headers and exhaust I do 1/4 mi in 16.600, at 84 mi/h (temperature was about 70-75 degrees).
So it seems to me that all my upgrades only slowed me down, or maybe the weather counts a lot.
So what else could I do? in order to gain like 100hp at wheels?

Please no stupid comments!!!!!!

To get 100+hp to the wheels u gotta go boost (turbocharge or supercharge it)

But would turbo work with automatic tranny? and probably all the fitments for turbo should be custom done? At least I have never heard of turbo made for my car.

Comptech makes a supercharger kit. Probably about $3k, (another $2k labor?) it might blow about 10psi which would give you around 100hp. I don't believe you'd need a tranny upgrade.

How the hell would I/H/E make you slower on the quater mile?

If you boost it, you will most likely have tranny issues.

Are you kidding me. The comptech blower is right at 4k and it would not be anywhere near 2k for install. It does not take long at all to put on.

if you keep the boost low you might be alright.

Yeah, I was looking the the Comptech supercharger instructions the other day, and it looked like a pretty cool set-up.

Try a Comptech S/C kit. I don't know if that'll get you in the 14's though. And if you don't get the high boost pulley, you're limited to 6 PSI I think? You need the high boost pulley to get 8-10 PSI. Also, if you have I/H/E it would probably be a good investment to get a Unichip, or maybe get some pulley upgrades. Turbo is not something the J30 is good for. Something about the engine not having a knock sensor that makes it really hard to tune or something like that.

You tell me how the hell I go slower in a 1/4 mile with I/H/Exhaust, I think maybe the weather temperatures difference may be the reason I go slower, or maybe I need to unchip the engine, or get a fuel regulator, because I am supplying more air I need to also suplly more fuel right?

Also the comptech kit will only give me 42-48hp at wheels, it's a little lame for $4000 don't you guys think so. Someone mentioned 2k for the laborhours, are you kidding me))) the most would be $400-500. Instalation time is 6-7, who don't believe in that go and check it out yourself http://www.comptechusa.com

thats probably with the low boost pully on it, you can buy a different pully for higher boost.

yeah i think the air temperature had something to do with it. the colder the air, the more dense it is, meaning your engine gets more of it. and you stated that on your first run the air temperature was a good 20 to 30 degrees colder than on your second run after you installed the I/H/E.

That's what your ECU does. In case you didn't know, theres all kinds of electronics and sensors in your car that constantly monitor the air/fuel ratio among tons of other things to keep your car running at optimal range.

I would definately take that 'chip' out, because it sounds like you might have stuck the ebay special in there....but hopefully not.

Comptech S/C = waste of money IMO unless its used

You can:

A: Spray

B: swap in a Type S motor from a TL/CL

C: Buy the ssautocrap turbo kit and hope nothing fails

I dont think anyone has gone 14 NA on a v6 6th gen yet.

Put your stock exhaust back on and use smaller rims as well. UR crank pulley should help a bit too.

Stock exhaust are you kiddin' I paid 700$ for the tanabe exhaust that's 100% made in Japan. I also think that I need a chip to control the fuel.

haha, well too freely flowing of I/H/E can be bad for your engine and show little, to no improvement.

smaller/lighter rims obviously help as well

Sorry for trying to help ya out then. Scratch that idea and keep your 100% made in Japan exhaust that they dont even carry over there.

messing with anything in the exhaust other than axle back and headers = loss of low mid range torque. trans does not have issue with increased power as the problems are design related

What you need is NAWS!!!!, its the cheap and reliable way to gain some serious hp.

Though I am considering of putting Nos, or Zex, for a short period of time, Nitrous isn't so reliable, I know that. Any comments on Nitrous??????????????????????????????????????????? ????????????????

If you think being made in Japan makes an exhaust better and going to boost performance, then you really shouldn't be in the game of working on cars.

Anyway, Id go with a turbo kit if you can find one. Nitrous would work, but you wouldn't be able to spray much with stock internals (I would think, seems like it would blow it up, same with the tranny, but I could be wrong). Best bet would be weight reduction, tranny swap, cam, and boosting.

I am not saying that everything that is made in Japan is the best, or did I say so? I don't think so. But besides the point the exhaust that I got is known for it's performance and not for some stupidass commercial, so I really did research before I got the stuff, and I am not dumb when it comes to cars, so do not make bad impressions of someone who did not explain all the details, thanks.

At first I was planning to get greddy wsp2, but it was and still is on the back order for who knows how long, and believe me I am not lying because I called every California's store, so I got Tanabe because it is pretty close to Greddy just a little more expensive. (that was about 1month and a half ago). As far as turbo kit I do not know a store or a manufacturer that makes one for my car, therefore I would have to custumize all the fitments, and for that I do not really have time.

I don't know if it's just me, but 98-2002 accord coupe had one badass styling, I really like this car, and I do not think that I will ever sell it, even though I'll get a new car pretty soon. The only think that bothers me is its performance.
