I have some prelude vtec brakes laying around and thinkin about installing them. I know I need a 3-5mm spacer between the disks and the hub, and to redrill the disks for the 4x100 lug pattern.
I have drums in the back now...should I upgrade to disk rears first? Yeah...the fronts do something like 70-80% of the stopping force...but would the extra large brakes in front throw off the balance too much?

Prelude VTEC brakes have 11.1" rotors, and the lesser trims have smaller brakes in the front.
The fronts do most of the braking. I would ask BrakeExpert about this situation. If it were me, I would upgrade the rear.

>on dx knuckles, on prelude calipers stamped 17CL15VN, you'll need to machine your brackets, replace your 9.4" rotor w/ a 10.3" (from any 90-91 ex, 90-03 teg, 99-00 si) & grind your pads to clear the rotor hat.
>on ex or teg knuckles, you'll need to machine your brackets, use re-drilled prelude 11" rotors
*you'll need a bigger 1" or 15/16 master brake cylinder to push more fluid to the calipers
*you can find complete rear disc conversions on 88-00 crx/civic and 90-00 integra (not a sin if you don't, but rear discs help with nose dive)
*update your valve prop from a honda w/ rear disc if you dump your drums (also not a sin, but it helps your brake balance)

pm brakeexpert, he machines brackets & re-drills rotors too...he does great work !
