motor difference
whats the big difference, i have a 1995 honda civic hatchback with a d16y8 and im gettin a 1991 honda hatchback with a d16z6 motor, im new to the honda trend, im wonderin whats the difference in between the 2 motors? thnx
91 hatchbacks didnt come stock with d16z6's, they came with d16a6's, but of course it could have a swap in it.
the z6's are basically the same as the a6's, just with a vtec head.
also as far as i know the z6's are older versions of the y8's although they have the same specs.
1.6l sohc mpfi vtec for z6's and y8's
1.6l sohc mpfi non-vtec for a6's
could be wrong...

There isn't any real "big" difference between the two motors. The Y8 is probably a little better performance wise due to a better intake manifold and it's square combustion chambers in it's head. However, with the weight difference between the EG and EF hatch's, the Z6 in the EF will probably feel better than the Y8 in the EG hatch.
