Default Refinishing Wheels Question (pics)

I just picked up a set of older Passat wheels which need to be refinished.

I want to do a very basic polish on them without doing any sanding, just stripping all of the old clear coat and using metal polish. My problem is that there is a small bit of corrosion on parts of the rims where the clear had chipped off. Is there anyway to polish this out without sanding off the tiny machined grooves on the wheels face? I tried with some Mothers metal polish and that didn't work. Maybe something more heavy-duty?

If I do end up having to sand them to get rid of it I'll probably just paint them. Any color preferences? It's for a black ej1.

The first two pics are of the corrosion on a wheel with the clear off and the last pic is of an unstripped wheel (better condition than the first).

Thanks

Naw, as I said in the post I don't want to do any sanding. Too much work for what I want and it's also not the type of polish I want.

Anyone know if there is an easy way to get rid of that corrosion?

I think i might just end up painting them.

Best advice.... I have done a few...

Aircraft paint stripper works best. The machining grooves will be hard to remove everything from... but take your time it will pay off

If there is metal damage under the clear in into the metal... you are SOL. Either sand them off or paint away

Before

After :DO NOT ASK ABOUT THE CENTERCAPS...I DO NOT REMEMBER
