Maaco paint jobs??????
Have any of you gone to maaco for a paint job, or know anyone who has.
I haven';t heard great things about their paint jobs, becuase i need one really badly, and its by far the best deal around. but maybe its too good..
400 for full paint job and taking out dings and dents.
compared to at least a 1000 from the other places, for teh same work.
any comments/suggestions??

I know someone who had his accord done there. Cost him $1k for Lexus IS 300 blue, shaved antenna, emblems, and it came out really well. It all depends on the prep job
prep it yourself cuz all they do there is sand it for 10 minutes and give you the spray.....the tape job they do there to cover your windows is pretty crappy...save your self the time of being pissed and do it yourself....prep that is.....things will come out looking pretty nice and if they mess up take it back!
a friend of mine got his car painted there. when he got his car back it had some imperfections in the paint. so he complained and they gave it a second coat. sort of like a 2 for one deal. it looks pretty good. the paint is about 2-3 yrs old now and still shines new.
but yeah like everyone else said. do the prepping yourself. mask or take off anything that isnt going to get painted.

not maaco, but i got my paint job done at earl sheib. that **** is whack. they use their own paint, not like dupont or ppg. paid 6 bills for some white pearl on white bullshit. i dont really care about my paint anymore anyways.
I'm not sure exactly what you guys mean by "prepping" it. do you mean taking off all teh emblems, possibly sanding some dents down..
do you just pop of the emblems with a scremdriver?

when you bring the car in, bring it sanded and primered so all the maaco people have left to do is paint and clear coat. My friend brought his car in and told them specifically to make sure they sanded the paint and primered it, but they didnt and when the paint chipped you could see the original color underneath. Pulling dents and filling holes is possible if you want to do it yourself, there are books on how to do this. Maaco's paint jobs are affordable because of the type of paint they use, it costs less for them to buy, its still quality paint but probably will not last as long as a professional job.... it's worth the money if the prep job is done prior to bringing the car in. Hope this helps.

Just remember, you get what you pay for. It's only 400 bucks because of the amount of labor/service they give you, not because they like you.
