Default 99-00 lip on a 96-98 bumper

Will there be any issues with putting a lip for a 99-00 rear bumper on a 96-98 bumper? Any correct me but arent the coupe and hatch bumpers universal?

i know the rear hatch and coupe bumper arnt interchangeable. they have diffrent rear light style, but the rear lips i think the coupe is more wider... as a matter of fact i think it wont fit.

It's not the width that's the problem, it's the length along the side (from the rear wheel well back).

The hatch is noticably shorter than the coupe or sedan.

Coupe and sedan rear bumpers are interchangeable. It doesn't even matter what year it is, as long as it's a 6th gen ('96-'00) coupe or sedan rear bumper. That means if you have a '00 Si (like your sig lists), you can put on a '96-'98 DX sedan rear bumper if you want even.

Hatchback rear bumpers meanwhile only fit other hatchbacks. You can interchange between years too though, as long as the vehicle and donor are both 6th gens ('96-'00).

ok thats good, now for the lip? Is it worth making my 99-00 lip fit on a 96-98 bumper or should I just look for a 99-00 bumper?

Look for a 99-00. You could make it fit, but you'll need a good heat gun and it will have poor fitment.

OEM or replica? The '96-'98 and '99-'00 front bumprs are pretty different. So different that companies make replica '99-'00 style lips to fit on the '96-'98 front bumper.

I was talking to the guy who said it worked.

Though I had forgotten this thread was about a rear bumper. It's goig to depend what body style. If it's '99-'00 hatch rear on '96-'98 hatch, it will work. But less likely if iit's '96-'98 coupe or sedan.

The question is will a lip for a 99-00 rear bumper fit on a 96-98 rear bumper?

I have a 00 em1 in which I bought a rear lip for, I need another bumper and wanted to know if it has to be 99-00 or will it fit on any 96-00 bumper except hatch because I presume that bumper wont fit anyway
