Default D series tranny question

Are all D series tranny's the same? Do any of them have an advantage when it comes to turboing, like an LS tranny does? Thanks for the info guys.

You want a Si/EX tranny if running boost/spray/NA on a 1.6L

BTW the LS tranny has almost IDENTICAL ratios as the Si/EX tranny.

tranny Si/EX LS
1st 3.25 3.23
2nd 1.90 1.90
3rd 1.25 1.27
4th .909 .966
5th .702/.750 .714
FD 4.25 4.266

just perfect to know that our SOHC's best tranny is the same as the worst for a b-series. mista, is there any thing to get those gears closer? anyone make a aftermarket final drive? a 4.75 or a 4.9 would be real nice.

Mista, how reliable is that tranny... I've always wanted to know that. I'm talking autoxing here, not daily driven.

all honda tranny are great for autox IF you do one thing...........

DO NOT force a downshift into 1st on the lowspeed corners. This kills shifter forks. I even mastered the 2-1 downshift without the clutch, but tje fork said CYA!!!!!!

In autox the 1-2 shifter fork is the weak link
In drag racing the diff is the weak link.

for me its the shifter forks that have been the weak link.

I have broken 3 trannies. all had shifter forks broken. Same as Bisi E, we were swapping forks on our broken trannies cuz i would break the ones he wasnt breaking.

No problems on the diff so far.(knwock on wood)

it's called fuel economy.... (3.72)
I put this tranny in my car... I can drive 80 at about 3000 RPM's
it also lets you do 100 in 3rd!
other than that it sucks, car wont' accelerate for $hit

I wish i new about honda-tech before replacing my tranny
