B16a1 into 91 dx crx rotates, sparks, but injectors do not fire!!!!!!!!!!
OK i have spent the last three days trying to figure this out but now i am just lost. I made a new harness with the old dx harness mostly and some off of the b16. The injectors work great and everything is all good b/c they have aboout 12 V each at the ecu connector a1,a3,a5, and a7. What input is needed by the ecu to complete the injectors circuit. I know the ecu is good b/c i put it in another b16 crx. At first the inectors fired a few time speratically but now they just don't, can anyone help me i really just want to drive this thing. Thans again for all the help
You can use a test light to see if the ECU is sending the pulse to the injector. Take the plug off the injector and put two wires in the plug, one for each connection in the plug (DO NOT LET THESE TWO WIRES TOUCH!). Attach the test light between the two wires and try to start the engine. If the test light flashes, then you are getting the pulse signal to the injector and the injectors are most likely just stuck. Also, you might want to take the injectors out and inspect the filters on top of the injectors. If you are not getting a flashing test light then you have some electrical connections to check. If the injectors are sticking, then you need to tap on then with a screwdriver or something similar, while starting the engine. Good luck.
I have ttested just about everything. The resistor box is wired up correctly, the power for the injectors comes from the main relay to the box and then to the inj. and then finally to the ecu where it closes the circuit when its told to fire that injector. What im not sure is what exactly tells the ecu when to fire the right injector. I was thinking it was the CKP(crankshaft position/Crank angle) or the cylinder position sensor. I have no clue i have tested everything almost and i am on the virge of taking it somewhere. I know that the injectors are working great, bc i tested them, and the clips work fine and the wiring for them is fine. Its just the ecu will not close the circuit for them for some reason. The ground at the thermostat is secure, and when i hook up a noid light to the injectors they do not pulse at all so i know the ecu is not grounding them. I have tried hooking wires straight from the two grounds at a2 and a4 to a good ground and still nothing happened. When we first got the engine in they fired very randomly but we thought it was the distributor wires. I know i have those hooked up correctly and it sparks just great. Can someone give me a list of things to check that i haven't already.
