what you want to do is do a little researching first. bolt ons are pretty much personal preferance. read around in the tech forums and what not and see what some of the fellas are running. just to give you an idea of what to expect.

The Check engine light isn't on because it has a different motor, it's because whatever ecu is plugged up to that motor noticed a sensor is malfunctioning.

Do some research, you sound like a 16 year old with weekend burger king employment money.

there are other swaps out there than the "almighty Si motor"

x2 I'd say swap it for a d16z6 instead of the b16..

Nope. swap to h22+bolt-ons, b18b then boost, or b18c1 + low boost

The first thing I would do is figure out why your check engine light is on!

X2

B20B's and B18B1's are pretty cheap and will do you some good justice for a while. Plus with those two, you are halfway to a CR-Vtec or LS/Vtec motor for the future. I was running a 16.7 quarter mile run in my EG with my old SOHC Vtec (d16z6) with an intake, header, and cat-back exhaust. I dropped in a B18B1 with a GSR tranny and dropped down to a 14.9 Lots of options though. H-series swaps, many B-series swaps, and of course the new K-series swaps. If you are low on dough, Id say go with a B18B1 or a B20B to get you started. Good motor set ups to learn from! Good luck!
