Default PLEASE...Help Me Pick a Turbo!!!!!!!!!!

So it has come time for me to pick the turbo for my next setup. I am upgrading from a Turbonetics 57 Trim T3/T04E with a .48 stage II turbine. There are so many options these days its really hard to decide what fits my needs. Let me explain my setup. I am temporarily going to be running a stock LS with this setup while i build my new motor which will be:

Sleeved B18C5 to 84mm
9.1:1 compression
Custom manifold and 3'' downpipe and exhaust
TiAL 44mm

Although it will take some time to get there my future goals are around 450 whp. Having the turbo described above i really appreciated the quick spooling nature of the .48 housing. I don't think that the turbo will be effective for my new setup but would still like something that spools relatively well.

In short...I am looking for a turbo that spools quickly, is capable of 400-450 whp, and i am willing to spend up to approx. $1300

Also, approx. how many PSI would be needed to achieve that power rating.

Thanks for the help!

I'd have to agree on the GT30R as well.

Add one more vote for that turbo.

And I would guess 21-22lbs to get you there. Just a guess.

sounds like a mean setup, you must have lost a race, so you want more power now. hehe jk, go to the junkyard and get one off a semi truck.

Wow. With all of these recommendations and lots of research GT3076R it is.

Now asking for Turbine housing A/R suggestions. I am thinking the .63 for spool and don't think that i would fully utilize the .82 housing? Lets hear some more!

Thanks guys.

A .63 will be just fine for 400-450whp. The .63 will give you a little better midrange than the .82 will. Going with a .82 wouldn't hurt though since you have a 2.0L motor. It just depends on what you want your hp/tq curve to look like.

around when would full spool time be for the .63 ar gt3076r?

also, are these internally or externally wastegated?

Im looking for a turbo as well for when I build my engine. My power goals are pretty closely related to his.

unless your goals are to push major top end numbers above 500whp then i would suggest a .63

my buddies car made 496whp on the .63 housing at 21psi, so it still had more room to go. ran an 11.02@127 first time out on the new boost.

with a 2.0l and the 30r .63 hot side, you are gonna have a serious powerband(like you said, you wanted something that spools quick)

The deeper i look into this the more confused i get. I am now confident that i want a GT3076R with a .63 turbine housing.

What i dont know is what bearing cartridge i need. Also, is there any difference between the "T3 Turbine Inlet Flange, 4 bolt GT 3.0'' Discharge" and the "T3 4-Bolt Exhaust :Housing"?
http://www.atpturbo.com/Mercha...e=GRT

I have also noticed that these are coming from several different distributors such as Precision and Garrett; are there any differences between them?

Precision just uses their own covers for the units. They use garrett chra's and etc.

How much faster does the .62 spool over the .82?

What is better for the street? I'm thining a little bit more lag is better for traction on the street.

I'm asking in general....I know it depends on the set up and boost levels, but what is the max hp of the .62 and max on the .82? How much difference in spool is there? 500 RPM's difference?

Sorry to thread jack, i will be running a 1.8 litre GSR with a log manifold. Kind of curious of the differences between the two.

can you support your suggestions with some small facts or maybe a dyno graph to show how it compares to some other turbochargers on the market?

either housing will work, as long as you get a downpipe made accordingly. the t31 housing aka "t3 4-bolt exhaust" works fine, but they also make a 4 bolt specific for the gt series turbos(4 bolt GT 3.0" discharge). weve use both housings with great success.

Thank you all for your help,

Does anybody have a GT3076R in stock?! I have been calling all around but am having trouble finding one in stock. I found a -13 cartridge in stock but cant find a -12 cartridge. Would there be much difference between the two?
