1991 Accord ABS Light ... engine stalls
Hi,
I'm having a problem where my ABS light will come on after I drive a few miles, and then the car starts to sputter when I give it gas and if I don't try to keep the revs up a bit, it quits.
Once it quits, it acts as though the battery is flat, but if I leave it for a 1/2 hour or so it will start right up again. It drives fine before any of this happens. This has happened on a few different occasions.
It's a 2.2, and I had it sitting all winter (about 6 months) ... I didn't have this problem before.
Some other posts I've read seemed to suggest it could be sensors, but would this make the engine quit?
Thanks for any help.
Ross.

my guess....you probably have 2 different problems...unless some wires have shorted together...there is really 2 many things that can make an engine not run...main relay, weak fuel pump, crappy coil...blah blah blah...
if ur not comfortable with how your car works take it somewhere for the diagnosis...then report back and we will tell ya how hard it is to do

i agree. It sounds like you might have wiring gremlins!
Any ABS problem should be completely separate from engine performance. I believe the ABS even runs on its own computer.
So yeah, sounds like you've got a couple different issues that may or may not have anything to do with the car sitting for a while. I'm really not going to even attempt to pull any ideas out of my butt at the moment...you've just got some weird stuff going on (like not turning over until it sits for a while). Are you getting a check engine light at all?
My suggestion since you're obviously stumped enough to come here is to take it in for a diagnostic like he said...I can't say with any confidence that I'd be able to figure out what was going on if I were in your shoes.
