Default Are my Tie Rods bad?

When I accelerate hard or take a turn giving it any amount of gas, a loud wobbleing sound comes from the front. I can feel it in the steering wheel. It seems to me that it would be the tie rods. I thought it may have been the axels but I just put new axels in and I still get the problem. Under straight line acceleration it viberates pretty bad under WOT. Would the inner tie rods cause this?

By the way

91 CRX si, everything is stock.

Do you have a small knocking play in the steering wheel? Can you easily move the outer joint with your hand? Thats a sign the outer one is done.

Take each tie rod arm out of its joint and see if it hangs limp, and if it rattles when you push it in-out...the inner joint is surely done if it rattles.

It could be other things, but chances are if you have not replaced them, the tie rods are done. I would also look at the bushings on the radius arms where they attach at the front subframe. Replacing those with $12 ES bushings will help alot, but you'll need an alignment.

you need to go under the car and check for yourself.
grab the tie rod and shake it. isolate the source of any play.

likely your steering rack bushing is in need of replacement. but probably many other things too.

just got to check.

Like Tyson said, isolate the problem. I had a lot of shaking in my steering as well and just took out my rack this weekend. I was thinking that the rack bushing was probably the only thing bad but found out that all 4 of my tie rods are done. The rack bushing was actually still in tact but I replaced it anyway, it's only 10 bucks and easy to take out.
I bought all 4 tie rods off of Ebay from World Suspension for about $50 bucks. That's a hell of a deal. I should finish the install tonight and get an alignment tomorrow morning.

You should jack up the front of the car and put it on jack stands. Once it is on jack stands you want to grab the wheel and wiggle it from side to side, if the wheel has play then you have bad tie rods. Another thing is: you can wiggle the wheel up and down and if it has play then you have a bad wheel bearing.............. Well hope that the info. works out..LATEZ!!!!!

I already know all the tricks guys. I know if it wiggles from left to right its a tie rod end or if it wiggles up and down its a hub bearing. I actually already fixed the problem. Somoene put the wrong axel in there. The OEM CRX Si Axel I bought was about 2 inchs shorter then the one I had in the car.
