Default fit paint quality

sup guys, i recently decided to repaint my eg 06-07 fit silver storm metallic but i have been reading nothing but negative comments and whole threads about the paint on the new fits(chipping, pealing etc) something about the paint being water based...... so my question is that i used crossfire paint that i had mixed at napa so should i worry about having the same issues or is the paint i used a different type that is just color matched to the original color? thanks for any replies

You shouldn't have any problems. You can mix the same color as a solvent based instead of water based. You'll probably use more coats than the factory so you'll be fine.

The only bad part about the paint on the Fit's is that its thin.

If you spray more coats than the Fit's get at the factory, i think itll be fine. Also, i think some fits are sprayed the same colors as other hondas (Milano red i know, and Electron blue pearl and nighthawk black pearl i think?) so i dont think theres anything physically wrong with the paint, theyre just sprayed very cheaply.

I own one, and the paint isnt as bad as everyone says it is. Just last week i had some guy crash into the median beside me on the highway and a peice of his car flew off and hit my door, didnt leave a mark. But i do have a few rockchips on the hood.

I don't think the paint itself is as bad as everyone says, either. I've got an '07 Vivid Blue Pearl Fit Sport.

It is obvious, however, that it's done with a cheaper process. It's the only Honda that I've owned (10 total) that has OEM overspray in the fender wells and under the rear, but it's a $16k car, I can't complain.

thanks for the replies guys i feel better about my paint choice now . i definately think i sprayed more coats than the factory fit,so far i have sprayed the engine bay and inside the car with 1 coat of sealer,2 coats of base and 2 coats of clear. i plan on doing the same with the body except i will probably do 3 to 4 coats of clear then. that should be ok right?
