Will D16 parts fit the D17 parts?
I own a 04 civic coupe
and i wanted to take my engine to the next level... i've been searching online and cant find parts for my D17, but what i do find is a lot of parts for the D16. I was wondering will the D16 parts fit the D17 engine? please help. thanks

There's nothing on a D16 that will fit your D17, without customization.

Every part you need to build an engine is available for the D17 with the exception of the bearings, but there's no reason not to use Honda bearings. The only thing internally that will fit without modification is the valves, valve springs and retainers.

Nope. Different stud locations.

Correct you cannot mate up a D17 and D16 head/block.
But you can put a D16Y8 IM on a D17 (with some effort though).
Also, you can swap in a D16 crank, rods, and pistons and de-stroke the engine and get really low compression so you can boost the **** out of it.
But that's all I'm aware of.

In order to run a Y8 manifold, you'd need to modify the throttle body mounting point, so I wouldn't call it a direct swap.
And, yes, you can use the crank, but if I remember correctly, you need to modify the journals.

Yes you are correct. The Y8 IM is not a direct swap. Besides the mounting point work, you need to create a fuel line return.
However, you are not correct on the crank. No mod is necessary here if you use the D16Y8/Y7 rods and pistons. The BE ID of the D17 and D16s rods are identical. You also need a D16 oil pump and lower timing gear.
Both are no simple mods but are doable.
