melted coil and dizzy cap 90 si d16a6
Hey first post, i noe im looking like a non-searchin for nothing noob lol, but i was told by all the Honda peeps in know to come here.
problem:
so last night my 90 Honda civic si decided to just turn off while it was idling. didnt sputter or anything. checked the timing belt, it was tight, I checked for spark nooo spark at all. so I go to take the dizzy cap off and pieces of plastic from the coil fall into my hand, the coil melted in half. wtf would cause this. car ran awesome up until that point, drove it long distances no problem 150 mile or so trips to the cruise ins. the only thing it used to do was when i drove it and turned it off after it warmed up it wouldn't start immediatly but wait a min or to and fires right up, main realy for that problem i presume.
proposed solution:
okay i put a new dizzy in and it ran but very rough, im not sure what to, i need your help guys :-), i drove it home home from where it broke down at and it pops out of the intake above like 3 grand or any major load, first instinct says timing but im confused when i advance or retard the distributor it does the same thing. The dizzy can only go in one way right?
new cap, rotor, plugs, and wires and it still ran rough, i thought that would do it , im puzzled, i mean the extreme amount of heat that obviously went through the ignition system couldn't have hurt anything else could it?
thnx
Chris
oh the car has 250,000 sum miles on it enlighten me
thnx. enlighten me.
