Default What tires should I get?

I have a 2001 with the Factory 2005 17" rims. The tires on the car are worn in the back, but have plenty of meat up front. The size should be 245/40/17 in the rear and 215/45/17 in the front.

I live in Virginia, so I have to put up with the occasional rain storm, and I am a college student so the tread life and price are both pretty important because I will have to scale back some hours at work to make up for the credit hours at school.

I want something around $300 before shipping. I can't really complain about the Potenzas except that I hear they wear too quickly, like around 10k. I am leaning towards the Advan S4, the Kumho Ecsta MX or SPT, or the Sumitomo HTR ZII. I liked the Falkan RT615 but they don't make them in 245/40/17.

The Advans are expensive, but on Tire rack they have a 9.2/10 for treadlife

The Khumos are cheaper and have a decent treadlife

The Sumitomo is dirt cheap, but my friend had them on his S and they were only good for straight line.

I'm looking for something that will be able to keep me on the road during the occasional downpour, something that will grip and hold its own getting on and off the freeway and will last long enough for me not to have to work too much this school year.

Help......... please!

Im on Fuzion ZR-1's.

They aren't confidence inspiring AT ALL but they get the job done.

If i had money?

Potenza SO-2s til the day I die.

Do they make the S-02s in the AP2 wheel size? I was looking into getting some but couldn't find them.

215/45/17 - Front
245/40/17 - Rear

You should be able to fit 255/40-17 on the back w/no problems unless you're really slammed.

I am running on Nankang EX-500, I love them, I never lose traction. But i don't know how they would work in rain and such. But you can check you the website.

peace!
