I honda pre-emptively knew they would get stolen as much as they do, they might have come factory with it.

No, the only cars that come factory with anything like that start at $100,000+

A $20,000 civic Didn't even come with Navi or leather seats, Low jack would be seriously hard to market.

my dads 2001 toyota tundra came with that from the factory... like a 28,000 dollar truck.. maybe less.

Anyways, theres a thjread somewhere on here saying to get an old verizon phone, have a place to plug it into for charging and leave that in your car. Make sure to get the EIME or some ID number from underneath the battery and when it gets stolen you can do that.

another cheaper alternative would be to buy an alarm with gps tracking.
Compustar has a new thing out called computrack and Im going to look into getting that. You can log into the website and track it yourself.

Yeah, garaging is def. #1 in protecting your car! (Or blocking it in with at least 2 cars up CLOSE.)

Those are some serious wise words there! Great minds think alike! I already have some security stuff, but when I'm done w/ my turbo build and I start making my EM1 sexier, I'll be putting in GPS! Peace of mind FTMFW!!!

By the time you find it with gps half of the stuff will be gone.

GPS is nice, but more important is a good paging alarm, 2-3 kill switches, and a stealth alarm install. Back-up battery, tilt sensor for towing, etc.

GPS is worthless if it's easy for them to steal your car.

just reading up on computrack...I can't believe there aren't any posts about it yet.

Sounds like a pretty good system. $135 for 1 year.

Does anyone know if the unit is included for that price or is it extra?
Does anyone know what alarm units it can be installed on?

all of the fore mentioned go without saying in my book...the gps is just in case they get past all of the other stuff, oh and quick release with locking hub...and the GPS units i have both send text messages and emails to my work email address and my cell phone and black berry so i am pretty well covered however....NOTHING is fool proof.

I do not believe that my parts would most likely be gone since i am notified when the car moves...i can contact polie and track the theif real time online until the car stops and provide a location. nothings perfect but i belive i am pretty close to being as secure as i can get other than driving some thing other than a honda

if someone steals ur car and u get a text message and take actions right away. they wnt even make it home b4 they get caught. u can go to the website and log on and see exactly where ur car is.. so gps is really worth it in my opinion

that is what they have at their disposal to use, and that is only some of the departments in some of the states in some of the patrol cars. I have a few friends who have recovered their cars using the units i have. They contacted police said their car was stolen and provide the police with the location...while in transit to the location themselves (leaving the wife or girlfriend to make sure it doesnt move again)

Could hav been just them or the ploice were feeling nice that day i dont know

Correct, you just relay the address to the police, "I think it's here"

They don't have a problem with asking peeps to open their garages at 4a.m.

ROFL, imagine, what a trip for a theif, puts the stolen car in his garage, and two hours later police show up "Hi buddy"
