Im in the process of taking it out. Please dont get into the arguement of abs vs nonabs. The motor is out right now so i figure this is probably the best time to do this. Anyway which lines do I have to replace there is somewhat limited info on this. Ive seen the offical abs removal thread but thats on 4th gen and also he replaced everything with 5th gen accord stuff and im not sure if that will work correctly in the heavier 5th gen as well if it will bolt up anyway.
I would try the 4th gen non-ABS lines or bend you own. You can get pre-made lines from the auto-parts store. I recently ran all new rear brake hard lines and it wasn't that bad.

now im gonna have to run all new lines correct not just from the MC to the proportiong valve
Also in the 5th gen all i have to do is the proportioning valve and the lines correct ? No MC or brake booster correct ??

Well, what I would suggest to you is get the 4th gen S prop valve and use the 4th gen S lines from the MC to the valve. I'm sure you can get those to work assuming the sizes are the same...
Then, if you can, try the lines (from the 4th S model again) from the prop valve to the wheels. I would think those would work but I don't know the details on it...maybe a hole is in the wrong spot or there's a bracket in the way or whatever...don't know for sure.

well one thing i do know for sure is the wheelbase is like an inch or so different idk how much that will mess things up.
But this is the time to do this since the motor is out hopefully it works out.
Are the fittings the same for the 5th gen MC and the prelude s MC, Im asking because i want to make sure that those lines will work.

I wish I knew for sure........maybe someone will chime in.

i have very limited experience w/ abs brake stuff, but from the mid '60's jeep that i redid the hard lines for, i seem to remember that when i went to the auto parts store, they didn't ask me what kind of car it was for, they just asked how long i needed them.
this indicates to me (though i can't say for sure b/c i didn't ask) that they only have one type of fitting and only the length is different for the unbent stock.
btw, it's very easy to bend your own, just make sure you bend it right the first time, since you can't unbend it (metal fatigues and cracks if you try and unbend it)

Im buying the proportioning valve. Idc about running the lines however what kind of flare nuts am i supposed to use ? Ive only flared lines before but didnt have to worry about the nut size and thread pitch. Anyone know this ?
Also are you sure that using the stock 5th gen MC is fine ? I mean im pretty sure it should be theres not too much difference between them.

It's going to save you a lot of headaches if you go buy a bunch of pre-made lines at all-different lengths. Take an example nut or line to the auto parts store and thye should be able to match up the thread size. I am using multiple standard flare nuts on mine and they work fine despite the correct size being metric.

im probably gonna end up doing that however im not sure on the fitting sizes. I would like to use honda fittings (not lines just flare nuts) or the same exact size but im unsure of how available they are.
What do you mean mate them to stock lines ? Or are you talking about from the MC to the proportioning valve ?

The fronts don't go to the prop valve, do they? I haven't done much research on that side of the brake system.
The fittings shouldn't be anything special, except maybe a fine thread like M10x1.00, M10x1.25, etc.

yea im gonna have to see.....well i thought they all did because the rear brakes have to engage before the fronts to help the car not nose dive. If i remember correctly.

Yeah, all 4 lines go to the prop valve on a non-ABS setup. The ABS brake lines have a little connector that looks like it might be a prop valve just for the fronts, but it's just a joint.
And you're right about the fittings...nothing special. Like I said, all my brake lines are from the local auto parts store and they work fine.

hmm so what material, diameter, thickness and lengths do you guys think i should go with on a 5th gen. I was probably just gonna try to follow the stock path. I just bought the new proportioning valve also.
