Powewashing Engine Bay
i wouldnt recommend it.
wet it, spray it down with degreaser, let it sit for 10 min, then rinse. brush heavily dirty areas if you need to.
I dont even cover the alternator or battery, i just dont directly spray at it.
I have never had problems.

I thought you said you wouldn't recommend it? Make sure all of your vital eletrical and any other sensitive areas with tape or another waterproof covering.

You're fine pressure washing it..
even with the engine in. Most people get all worried it will seep into their engine, which could happen, but it isn't that likely unless your gaskets are ****..
Anways, i spray it down with degreaser and let it sit. then it hit with the power washer, let it dry, wet it down, degreaser, scrub it, power washer, repeat until my bay is clean then the engine goes back in. I think I was using a 25 degree nozzle

Im a detailer at a Honda dealer and have detailed for about 8 years, and in all that time there isnt a case where i havnt pressure washed an engine bay I dont think. if its a really picky customer and i need to put their air filter in a plastic bag i will, but seriously, it wont hurt anything unless the wand is a few inches away from lets say, the dizzy cap or something.

If you're using Simple Green, just make sure you dilute to a 1:1 solution since it is sold in concentrated formula.
Here's a few picture of my engine bay details...

So if i use a 25 degrees nozzle then it shouldnt hurt anything ? Did u play with the pressure at all ? This is a pretty big pressure washer i think like 2700 psi

Actually I used Simple Green in the past, but these details are done with Meguiar's Safe D-Greaser and Meguiar's Hyper Dressing 1:1
Another example...

I completely stand by Meguiar's Safe D-Greaser, they call it so because it's strong enough to clean the engine bay, yet it's still safe on the paint in case of overspray. It's part of their Detailer Line that's produced for high volume shops, so it's formulated for speed.
The problem with Simple Green is that it comes concentrated and most people forget to dilute it. Even at 1:1 dilution Simple Green is still too stong, and you can run the risk of eating through the valve cover krinkle coat
Find something that works for you, and stick with it
