Default checking for cel's

My car is not starting just turning over and my cel is lit. I checked my ecu(pm5) and the led in NOT lit. Do i need to jump wires like the p28 or not. Thanks.

no, you don't jump anything on the OBD0 ECU - CEL with no flashes could be bad ECU - first check fuses: ECU fuse in under hood fuse box, Hazard fuse in under hood fuse box, Fuse #14 in under dash fuse box - if all good, check ground at thermostat housing, check connection of brown/black and black/red wires at connector on passenger side strut tower - disconnect one at a time the connectors for the MAP sensor and the TPS - does CEL stay on when each is disconnected? next: dosconnect the PA sensor which is on the passenger side kick panel just below and behind the dash - does ECU show Code 13? if not try a known working ECU and see if that fixes it - there are some other tests that can be run but you need an ECU test harness to do it
