ok, i just bought a EF hatch SI and the seller said that it would need a new gastank , so i bought a new one and had it installed, but for some odd reason i still smell gas fumes, i need to figure out what is cuasing the smell, any clue on what it might be?

 

the gasket could be fixed but the smell still there and reason why is gas is a hard smell to get away or maybe you didnt fix the problem.did u check the fuel lines going into the fuel filter...or see if the injectors aew leaking

 

i hade the same problem i had to clean out the vent tub and dont top off the gas tank when you fill it up. i dont have any problems now. hope it helps

 

Because of a water leak in my crx, the fuel return line rusted and sprung a leak underneath the carpet. It was only a pinhole and hard to find, but once I had the carpet out I found it.

whenever i fill up my ef, i put 9 gal in it, instead of 10. that way i dont smell gas.

I've seen a few rusted fuel lines under the carpet at the front of the left rocker panel.

maybe fumes coming up through shift boot. se if theres any exhaust leaks

 

Or you can try putting a banana in a bag and leave it in your car...after a few days it'll rot and stink so pretty soon you won't notice the smell of gas I'm kidding...I hope you find the culprit and fix it quick. Don't you get dizzy having to sniff that while driving too?
