To start this topic off, I own a 2001 Honda Civic LX with an automatic transmission with 65,000 miles on the odometer. So, while driving on a steep incline I suddenly feel the car go in neutral for some strange reason with the engine whining. I pulled off the side of the road trying to engage it to drive or reverse but it just wouldn't move! Called a tow truck got it towed to a shop, and a mechanic from a Honda dealership stated that the transmission broked and quoted me $2500 for repairs!

I am really upset with Honda. I bought a Honda so I wouldn't have problems with it, and I've had a bunch. The worst by far has been this transmission failure. Like other people with the same problem, one day it just went out. OF COURSE Honda won't do anything about it.

Sad but this is what Honda has become, a third rate car company. Even a Dodge neon can run 100k on an OEM tranny. Some dealerships work with you other will tell you to go f*ck off if you out of the warranty period.

Sounds like your dealer is telling you to take it up the rear.

I will never buy another Honda and I will never recommend someone else to. They have become simply an arrogant company living off their legacy of reliability but still to this day put out garbage transmissions. The Honda of the 80-90's has been forgotten about, its roots of quality and longevity, they have simply become more concerned with penny pinching and making a quick buck.

My advice to you is to sell that POS while you can get a good buck for it and move on. At least in Hawaii you can still find clean older Hondas.

Honda's automatic transmissions have always been poor performing and not very durable.

You buy a Honda, you buy a clutch pedal. Period.

Also, the '01 Civics are pretty notorious for quality problems in their first year.
