Default Clutch pedal return problem

Yesterday, while on the street, my clutch pedal would not return from the floor, until I pulled it back with my left foot. Now it seems okay, although it returns a bit slowly once in a while.

There is no obstruction down on the floor and the small V-shaped return spring down by the pedal is in place.

Based on your experience, what could the problem be?

It sounds like your master or slave cylinder is going bad. Have you checked the fluid reservoir level. If it's low check the master and slave for leaks. Whichever is leaking replace it.

Go dash diving and look where the clutch pushrod enters the Clutch master, if there are fluid drips there replace the master.

just for kicks, look and see if the spring connecting the pedal under the dash is broken, too.

sounds like either a toasted clutch disc, or air in the lines.

when the clutch disc is work out, 99% of the time the pressure plate fingers are work out as well, as they usuially go at the same time. So, if theres no pressure on the fingers, the release bearing will not be pushed back by them, and the slave wont return, and that will keep the pedel on the floor.
