Default Tryin to lower CP for a GS-R motor, need help.

Whole b18c from top to bottom w/ CTR pistons .25 overbore. I know definately that compressions will be 12ish. It's also daily driven car on the weekdays and race on weekends. Any suggestions on how I can lower the compression so i can use this a daily-driven car. Appreciate some input guys.

B16 head or thicker head gasket, id just focus on ECU tuning then u wont have to worrry about detonation with the right mixture.

a thicker head gasket from http://www.inlinepro.com would lower the compression easily.

Why did you put CTR pistons in if you didn't want higher CR?

12:1 is perfectly fine if you run premium gas and possibly retard your timing 2-3 degrees. Otherwise you're really wasting that engine. If you're turbo or something... that's another matter. Look at http://www.raceeng.com - they sell Cometic head gaskets oversized to drop compression. Give them a call, they're very knowledgeable and helpful.

Planning to go all motor. Well, I bought the block as is and for a sweet deal. The head I'm thinking of keeping or if I can find someone in socal who has a complete b16 head I can trade with.

If you're going all motor, don't lower the compression! Just back off your timing a little bit if you're worried... you'll be fine.

I am currently in the process of building up my girl's GSR and got the exact setup in place so far... GSR motor, .25 over w/ CTR pistons. With stock head (not milled) The CR should be around 12.2 w/ gsr head and 12 w/ b16 head. They yeild a 12 CR w/ b16 head in the CTR right ? I don't really want to run higher than 11.8, so I am considering a lower CR gasket (I would prefer to run a stock gasket tho) I have not heard great things about copper HGs and recently got a thumbs down on them (copper) from a pretty reputable engine builder. He was ok with cometics tho.

I'm interested in more info too.

Get a Cometic HP (heavy-duty) gasket - they are 0.043 thick rather than the stock 0.029, this will lower your compression to 11.6 if that makes you feel better. HP gasket is only $95 from http://www.raceeng.com and it's a seriously sturdy piece of work. Should hold up to any abuse you can dish out and I believe they are even considered reusable.

I'm planning to get tuning and hondata done. but my main concern is get the CP for the moment til I get the tuning and etc... Can't do everthing at once cuz money is tight and gotta get the swap done first.

Dude, keep that Compression ratio, like everyone keeps saying make sure the timing is Kosher, ALWAYS use high octane gas, and keep your ears open for pinging. If you hear it, then breakdown and get the head gasket.
You have the potential to have a peppy car! So talk to some people to see what they have done before you make a huge decision.

since ur swappin in the GSR motor u will have a P72 ECU to keep the car from knocking. P72s have a KS built in (KS). in case of a ping/knock the timing will automatically b retarded to prevent future knocking.

highest octane in cali is 91 octane.
it is very hard and expensive to find racing gasoline.

i believe it's like 4 bucks a gallon?

That is not the best idea (the K/S preventing knock) as the KS will retard timing once it hears it, but it won't keep it that way permanently. The KS will not retard timing any more once the pinging goes away, but the downside is that pinging will still hapeen prior to the KS hearing enough to retard the timing. The window for damage still lies there, so relying on the KS to defeat it permanently won't do.
