What is the top end on a 1989 crx si?

sounds dangerous and unrealistic.... what speedo were you using? doesnt the speedo only go up to 120? plus, the speedo isnt too accurate...especially in triple digits...

i hit 110 with my hf motor.......didnt want to try to go faster cuz crx+lots o' speed = oh shiet

I am lying...I did hit 110......I just wanted to see how fast the stock si would go

 

well back when the dx was in there, with the dx tranny. yea, the crx speedo stops at 125...but running down the highway, racing my friend in his 1st gen eclipse. i was going 138. my friend was in the car with me, and two other friends in the eclipse...no ****...just took awhiel to get there i think the Si tranny will top out at like 125 or 130 if you redline 5th. reasons i want the dx 5th in with the Si 1st-4th.

 

Stock Civic Si with stock JRSC @ 8psi, 5th gear with a stock Si tranny, rolling on 205/45-16's. Speeding on the toll road in KY between Somerset and Bowling Green on a nice cool Sept evening in 1999. Sorry about the pic quality, you try snapping a pic at 140. Flame away, it's for real only the car is faster now.
ricekilla The Si tranny will top out at about 147mph depending on what size tire you have.

TJ, this is a stupid question but whats that green light on for in your cluster?? shift light or something?

I had the cruise set on the way back from a dyno day way the hell down in Memphis when it occured to me that I was the only car around, and I had a camera to prove what the top end was. It only took a minute to find out....

 

Is it just me or does it look like he is on the wrong side of the road? America is were you were, right?

 

oh, ok, thats why the light didn't look fermilliar to me.
what are those other accessories that u have on there? to the left of the steering column, i dont have those, i have blank slots there. maybe they only came on the si

SmokyMtnRex, Take a road trip this weekend up to the toll road. You'll find that it's 2 lanes for both East and Westbound. I was in the left lane, because I was the fastest thing on the road.

 

i was up around 160 in my b16 hatch the other day (kph)

 

i had my old crx dx 120mph

 

the needle just rests on 120 so i dont know what it could actually do. havent done it recently though, to me for obeying the law. a word of advice, dont do triple digits with snowboard rack mounted on hatch with 3 snowboards on it...its scary.

 

ive hit 185 km/hr is my ZC crx with just boltons the car was getting quicker but i could feel her swaying too much in the breeze and stuff and it scared the crap outta me

 

well considering i can see grass on left side, i'm thinking he's in the left lane on a highway or a road

 

Hmm, back in redneckville where I grew up, we have lots of four lane roads that are empty at night. My friend and I used to race up to our top end speeds when I had just I/H/E on my Si with a ZC. We both easily maxed the speedos out but never hit any governor. I'm guessing we were actually only doing around 120 since the speedos are way off. Anyway, my car always felt planted on the road at that speed. I didn't even have problems switching lanes. Stopping was a different story.

(The suspension/tire combo around those days was H&R race springs, Tokico Illuminas, Suspension Techniques sway bars, Stock wheels, and Perelli P600 M+S tires.)

It seems like often times low profile tires make top speed runs very frightening compared to a softer wall.

 

haha, thats crazy....that looks about where my needle was that night. you say the Si tops out at about 147. is that with a 6500 red line, i have 7300 now and i am rolling on 205/40/R17 i guess after my engine wears in me and my buddy will race the b16 rex and the D16Z6 rex. i know i'll get stomped, but he has a fear of high speed....to my advantage!!!!!

 

that's smart, why don't you go put a bullet in your head, and save other innocent people's lives...

racing 1st thru 3rd is one thing, but c'mon, racing up to like 130 and ****? that's just stupid..
