intake manifold leak
I have a 92 accord that overheats as of yesterday.I looked under the car and notice that coolant is leaking very fast from the intake manifold. I assume that I need a intake manifold gasket. And aslo the egr vavle is near the leak. Could there be other problems?could it be the reason why there is no coolant circulatin.
where do you see it coming from the manifold? I also have a 92. Is it leaking where the IM meets the head? If thats the case, I doubt thats where its coming from. theres no coolant run through that part of the manifold. It is possible one of the hoses from the FITV on the back of the manifold under the throttle body. There are 2 small coolant hoses that run to the valve, its probably either the hose, or the FITV itself
First what motor?
And unless you're running a Chevy V6 under there that's not your problem. Intake gasket keeps metered air in and the outside air out...there is no coolant. Could be a leaky main or there are some very small coolant lines running to most (not sure on yours) throttle bodies to cool it off. My guess is the coolant is coming from the head because that's where its running!
Strictly speaking a leak will not cause it to overheat (unless its obviously very low on coolant). What's your exhaust tip look and smell like (see where I'm going with this?)?
*Damnit! I can't type fast enough apparently...

thermostat goes to the head bro. Might have a bad gasket near there...you have one in the housing and one connecting the housing to the head if my memory is correct. Start there.
Has anything changed as far as how the car runs? Less power or anything?

After researching I realized I need a head gasket. But I'm wondering if I cracked the head cylinder.how could I tell if the cylinder is cracked.
you gotta remove the head, and even then, you cant always see cracks with the naked eye. The head needs to be decked before you reinstall it, so ask the machine shop to check it for cracks while they are at it.
