just finished changing the oil and tranny fluid. took the car for a ride, what a difference! i was suprised that it only took about 1.5qts of tranny fluid thou? I drained as much as i could and filled it until it over flowed.
is you 07 an si? and did you ever check your oil befor you changed it? why i ask in because i got an 07 si, a little over 2 months old and my oil is at 30% so i about to change it. i poped my hood the other day to check it and it is really low. the oil on the stick was less than half way untell the 1st dot. i did not think i would burn that much oil. just seeing if your was low.
It seems to me that the "break in" oil that's in there for the first 3-5k miles burns off easier than anything else you put in after. But have the dealership check everywhere for leaks just in case (I had a leak at the vtec switch).
If it's really low, put oil in.

anyone know where there's some documentation to confirm that the new model # (9031 i think?) honda mtf is actually reformulated?
i've read some conflicting stories. guys saying the parts guy said there's no new formula, just a new model number.
at my dealership, one guys says he doesn't know anything about it, and the other guy says he heard about it but doesn't think it's happened yet...
i guess i'll start calling some other dealerships to see what they say.
i know a lot of guys have posted that they noticed a big difference after swapping to the new mtf, but i need to be confident this is for real, otherwise i'll just get the amsoil.

A brand new Honda should not "burn" oil. If your car burns oil that is bad news. If the engine has 0 miles on it then the oil that is in there has to work its way into all the nooks and crannies of the engine internals, oil filter, etc. After that initial set-in period you shouldn't see your oil level dropping consistently, regardless of how much.

Honda doesnt not just slap new part numbers and labels on things for fun; the new 9031 fluid is a reforumlated MTF. When I was working at Honda we got a notice regarding what was changed about the fluid and why, and we also got one case so that our Tech's could sample it. It will make a difference if you're having slight 3rd or 2nd gear issues. AMS is a good alternative but I had no need to switch to something like that.

I quit in Febuary of this year but we recieved our first case LONG before that... It took time to phase out all the "old" fluid so thats why its just recently been talked about more.
Hi, this is my first post. I have a 2007 Accord EX with 3500 miles on it. I checked the fluids last week and found my oil to be a quart low, I was not too surprised by this because of the break in period. I checked the trans, fluid and it was 1/2 quart low and I did think that was strange (maybe I missed that in the owners manual). Does anyone know if that is normal? I have not noticed any problems but good thing I checked. Thanks for any input you can give.
