about 3 months ago me and the wife bought a 04 cr-v ever since we have purchased it at idle it has a tapping noise from the engine, coming from the upper end and sounds like lifter collapsed or something of that nature. before i take this into the dealership (b/c we do have a certified warranty) im wondering if these motors are normally upper end noisey.

also it has gotten louder the longer we have had it, we have tried premium gas four tanks in a row (no help)

sounds like the oil wasn't changed on a regular basis before you bought it.
You need to have the valves adjusted and make sure the engine isn't sludged up.

thats what i thought, but of course when i bought it i had them do an oil change and i looked in the valve cover to see what condition it was and its really clean only had 35k on it when purchased. no telling what the bottom end looks like tho.

im gonna drop by dw and see if one of my buddies can take a look at it and see if it needs something. hopefully nothing serious (aka something that will cost me money outside of the certified warranty)
