My SI go hit by an 18 wheeler like 2 weeks ago so the insurance agent came out today to check it out. The total damage done was only 7,868 becuase no air bags deployed i got screwed with the total. This is BS now they are going to hack the car up then give it back to me at an depreciated value. He also said the car was worth about 21 to 22k WTF its an 06 SI with navi at 18k miles it is not worth 21 to 22k i def think that quote was kinda inflated. I also mentioned to him i received water damage that night due to rain my dash board had a puddle on it,my drivers seat was soaked,the drivers side rug was soaked. It smells like a slight mildew in the car now not to mention all the glass on my dash board in my vents on my NAVI screen WTF the whole dash has to come out i don't know if i trust a shop doing this. This is so frustrating i wish it would have been totaled so i can get out of these high payments and start over but now that wont happen i will keep you guys updated

they could have valued your car at "fair market value" instead of retail in perfect condition.. Are they writing you a check for the depreciated value after the car is repaired? In my state when your car is repaired, insurance pays to repair and pays out for "depreciated value" from the car being wrecked and repaired (lower resale value after repair)

I honestly don't think Geico would have been any better in your situation, I just personally got tired of Allstate's BS though.

Next time call me up, I'll take it over to my body shop. They will <u>make sure</u> its a total.

 

I just checked in Pathways (estimating system) and an 06 Si Coupe totals out at $14981.61, so you're only at about half the threshold.

P.S. Take it to a shop with a lifetime warranty on all paint and body work.

all state and aaa i think are the best how much you pay for full coverage? and yes you can trust them removing the dash and what not just make sure that YOU go looking for the Best shop in town that YOU TRUST not the insurance..... THIS AFFECTS the repair vaule for repair so that may be a good thing
you should always have prefrense on what shop you want to take it too, well atlest i know i have with AAA FTW

I pay almost $250 a month with 1 speeding ticket !
I just got it towed to my uncles friends shop he is a really nice guy and said he will hook me up and def find more damage and will fix any nicks,scratches i had before i am not happy right now but i will be when i get it back. Every one at the shop was feining over the SI,they were saying omg thats a civic,it so hot,it looks fast, did it came with the kit LOL 06+ SI FTMFW !

In my state accidents/claims can't be used as a reason for a rate increase. Only course of action they have is to cancel your policy. Sounds like your friend got screwed.

The insurance adjuster is always going to say its gonna cost less to get it fixed. Is the car even drivable? If so take it to a few shops that are hella expensive. Their price may be high enough to total it out. then show the insurance company your estimate and tell them thats the shop your going to go to because you hear great review. Or have the shop your at now throw out a high estimate. Find the most expensive rental car company also. every little bit helps.

The shop guy said he would add to the bill as far as it getting totaled it wont happen there is 2 much more money needed to total like another 10k almost if the air bags deployed i would be set right now. I can have him fix things the accident didnt cause which is cool i cant ask for much more i must think positive at this point !

 

Something's wrong when 10k in damage isn't considered totaled on a Civic

 

It has to be close to the value of the car to be considered a total and its more then a Civic people look at the car and just drool SI,HFP,Drop = .

People just cant get enough of the car when i brought it to the shop today 1 of the guys working there was ready to trade his RL for 1 simply drolling over it. Its 1 of the sexist cars on the road and demands respect honda FTMFW they hit a grand slam with this car !

 

I knew they wouldnt total it. I have seen worse and not totaled. Plus airbags are what total a car. Hopefully it will be just as good as before.
