Default Mugen Hardtop Window

I read somewhere the authentic Mugen Window for the hardtop is not glass but something else. Is this purely for weight reason? Because I thought theres nothing better than glass instead of plastic.

Is there an emblem or something etched that you can see that its real Mugen? Im only asking because I am looking to buy a CF hardtop that the seller said has authentic Mugen hardware and window.

Also do you guys prefer the OEM hardtop or say a Seibon CF one? I know the OEM is like 1500 cheaper no?

TIA

Mugen one has a plate stating what production number the top is. its inside the cabin portion of course.
The window is not glass since that would add the same weight that it is trying to reduce.
oh and i hate Seibon so dont get me started on that one...again.

^^^ He's anti-replica.

I'd say Seibon tops have a 95% chance of fitting right. Hope you're not the unlucky 5%.

I prefer the looks of Mugen, but like the insulation, glass (defrost) & fitment of OEM. But, you're in Sucka Kali, so you might not have to worry about the first two.

Unless it's O.C., NY.

I'm not hatin' on you Socal AP-SQUAD bastids. Just jealous of the beaches and pink-polka dot bikini's you got. I'm wishing for a beach front property, and I hear global warming's going to take care of that for me. Hope you got your snorkel intake on order.

I think there is an Orange County in about every state. I know my home state, Norf Cackalacky's got one.

No polka dots, and not many bikinis here. Girls wear pasties in the summer. And at the rate that global warming's going, I'll be fine.

I can swim, and I can probably build a boat or a raft if I have to.

this is a tough question, there are a few places out there that will make a custom piece but I have received prices as much as $2k for a custom curved glass piece for the mugen top....I dont think its worth it, but maybe if there is enough interst these companies might offer some reduction in price.
