Is there much diff. in the two systems that would make it worth getting the hfp. or just go aftermarket?

 

i'd like to know the answer to this as well. i have an ex & i have a friend whos sellin her old catback to her si & im gonna put it on my ex

No HFP just has a better sound to it than a stock Si muffler. If you want better performance go aftermarket.

That means that is prob flows better ie make more power! That would be my take on that. I am looking for facts not so much opinions.

 

There is no increase in piping diameter, still have the factory resonator, muffler is physically smaller and stainless steel. NO PERFORMANCE GAINS, only audible.....

HFP is only an axleback setup, just because 18 inches of pipe and a muffler are swapped out doesn't mean you'll gain any power... It's not designed to make any more power, it's designed to look cool, be shiny, and sound a little louder and deeper..

any flow increase or hp gains would be incedental

Thats all you need to know

 

Axleback won't do much at all, the only change is if the muffler is straight through instead of chambered, and it's not.

You'd be better off going with an all stainless steel exhaust system with slightly bigger piping and a straight through muffler. If you plan on driving it on the street, make sure it has a resonator in the pipe as well as a muffler. That will keep the noise down.

 

I would love to know what my HFP muffler would sound like w/ the resonator eliminated. I have thought about taking it to my local muffler shop and having them put a pipe in place of the resonator since I got it, but I would hate if it made the tone sound all raspy and obnoxious.

I will be keeping my stock Si catback. You guys saved me from spending $$$$
