I don't like those kinda of seperators onyl because I've had one ruin the threads (it mushroomed) on a really stuck taper, i even had the nut on to protect the threads.

Whay I've found works best with this tool is the tighten it to where it puts tension on the balljoint, then with the nut on the threads, lightly lightly tap the balljoint with a hammer and it usually pops. If you try to completly use onyl the tool to seperate all the way, it can mushroom the threads cause a really stuck taper/balljoint will resist a constant tension but combined with the tiny vibrations from the hammer it pops pretty easily.

For the lower ball joint however, I just use the 1/2" ratchet handle trick.

Ok so no its not this tool. Im talking about what u actually press the ball joint from the lower arm with when u put it in a vise. The top half is like 25 bucks and its called the remover/installer, which goes over the stud on the ball joint. But then there is a remover base and an installer base which are 2 different tools. I cant find the remover base.

It worked for me.

Parts Information > Enter part number into the "Part" box >

I check for what it fits though and nothing comes up. Some parts seem to do this occasionally.

Is what your are talking about a thin walled piece that pushes the lower ball joint in the knuckle on the back side???? If so just use an impact socket in a vise. Thats what I do. I take the boot off first also as to not damage it while pressing it in.
Put the snap ring back in and go.

For removal of ball joint I use that tool and use the hammer technique if they don't pop easily. Or just apply pressure and smoke a cig and drink some beer. Over time the pressure will loosen it. That and some AeroKrol does wonders.
Use the castle nut flipped upside down until the nut and threads are even.

If I am missing your point draw me a picture.

So what your saying is there really is no reason to buy this base because a socket will push it in and a hammer and the ball joint installer that goes over the stud can be put on and whacked out with a hammer? Ive heard this before and saw some posts of people even using their own sockets and not using special tools at all. Any good advice would help. Also any advice on how I can line up my front control arms in my press to press in the new bushings. I pressed the one in the middle out and had to saw the sleeve off the outer one after pressing out the rubber because i couldnt get the right angle, and somehow my press seems to have bent. And Ideas on using my press on wheel bearings using cheap non speciality tools would be helpful too.
