Torque is what you want not horsepower!!!!
True but as a baseline make your goal a high torque engine.
I am just trying to say, if you are having trouble choosing between the B16 and any B18, go with the B18.....you can always add a VTEC head to the 18B.
Or just save yourself the trouble and buy a B20

why not get a H22?
h23: 160 hp
B16a: 160hp
But obviously, one have much more low end torque.
i think that the h23 equipped crx would pull on the b16 crx. i would think that because it has alot more torque. but if im wrong...please correct me.
the h23 makes around 156 torque to the crank and about 130 to the wheels and the b16a makes around 115ish? torque to the crank. so my guess would be with the h23.

H22s are just screwy motors. Absolutely everything is "weird" about them.
That doesn't make them any less screwy! somebody is bitter.
can't make the fastest all motor crx with a b16! hehe.
motor geometry, sleeves, cable shifter tranny, awkward mounting position, odd factory fuel and ignition maps in h22 ecus... it's all screwy

...then no Honda would ever win a race...

Ehh, I would say moreover driver skill wins races, not torque. Ive smoked my fair share of V8's that have gobs of torque.
Power/torque is nothing unless you can properly tune and setup a suspension for the ride down the 1/4, and be able to pilot the car too.....
By the way, I like this forum!!

so.... you're saying we should all transplant diesel engines into our hondas????
HorsePower is derived from Torque. The equation is torque x RPM / 5200 = HP or something like that. They are both just a way of measuring power. If you have lots of Torque, you will have lots of Horsepower. Unless your engine redlines too low... If you look at that equation, you should notice that Torque and HP will be equal at, or around, 5200 RPM. Torque wins races?... odd, The H22 and the H23 have VERY similar Torque peaks... Yet my VTEC Prelude friends can easily beat me in my Prelude Si. Why? Because their torque peaks higher, which means more horsepower.
B16 revs soo much higher though. It'd be a close race.
i ran a high 14's low 15's with a h23 in a 4door accord
h23 in a crx will be a low 14 high 13sec car cax with a b16a1 mid 15's-high 14's
