Default 94 Civic DX A/C...

My A/C doesn't blow cold air at all. The heater works fine though. I really need it for this heat. x_x

Do you think I just need a recharge?

Do you think I need something else?

How much am I going to be spending on this?

Thanks.

Depends if there is a leak in the system. PLaces will NOT recharge until you get the leaks fixed. That costs BIG bucks depending on where the leaks are. Most recharges are 30 to 40 bucks.

I say try the autozone can. It's like $10-15 and it will at least work temporarily. If it only works for a short while you have an a/c system leak.

You can buy chemicals to locate the leak, though stock a/c systems will continuously lose freon over time. It's a small amount, but over a 14 year period of time it can happen.

Recharge it yourself, it's easy.

Most common leaks are from the schrader valves in the low/high side connection fittings, and also the compressor.
Of course, with the condensor being right there in the front, it could have a hole in it from a rock hitting it. I doubt the evaporator in the car has a hole in it.

I did just that. Went to autozone and bought a can of refrigerant. A/C works fine now BUT... when i use it, my car seems to have a lot less power. It even cuts off when i put it in gear and try to accelerate.(sometimes)
This cant be normal, can it?

If you are on a D then yea. U lose alot of power when the Ac is on. Try removing the belt and check to make sure that all the pullys and the compressor spin freely.

Get a B series swap and you will be good.

So a b-series swap is his solution to fixing his ac being warm problem.

He didn't seem concerned with the 2hp loss from having ac.

It takes the same power from a b-series or a d-series to operate a/c in any car. It's just less noticeable.
