'95 Civic Del Sol - how to check or change instrument panel lamps?
I just bought a '95 Civic Del Sol about a month ago with 118K miles on it, good car, good condition. The fellow said that the horn did not work. He was right, nothing on the steering wheel that was electrical, worked, at all. SRS light never comes on when engine is first keyed and then started, no horn, and cruise control did not engage. Everyone said this is the clock spring. I found one on ebay and bought it, put it in last Monday night, and everything works now, horn, cruise control, all that, but still no SRS light.
One thing I notice now is that the dashboard still lights up at night but over where the air conditioner, heater, and defroster are, it is pretty dark. The green AC light comes on when the button is pressed and the AC works, the yellow light in the buttons to direct air flow work when a button is pressed, but most of the labels are dark now. The fan goes from 1-5 and that does not light. The A/C button has a label on it that says "A/C" and that lights all the time, regardless if it is turned on (Green light) or not, but nothing else over there lights, it is pretty dark.
Since the car is 12 years old, perhaps me working down there was enough vibration to finish off an already weak lamp filament. Is it supposed to be this dark over there or are there lights for the climate control center? How do you check or changes these lamps and what kind of bulbs should I buy for this? Money is something I don't have now so this is going to be a pretty much DIY car unless it is something I cannot do like the 4 new tires I just put on it. I did break down and order the Chiltion's manual for this car and what a waste of money that was. It told nothing of the clock spring, says nothing about the SRS air bag other than to take it to Honda for anything SRS, and now nothing on the instrument lighting.
Can somebody help with this please?
Thank you,
Paul
