ok so i drive an 06 lx 5spd, its got magnaflow and cai, now it seems that at least once a week while traveling like 30-32 in a 25 mph zone i get yelled at by adults. it really annoys me, its not like im driving insanely fast and trying to run over little kids in a neighborhood. i feel like adults are just pissed cuz i drive a nice car and im 17. also sometimes i carry 1st gear out to like 30 and of course thats gonna make it sound like im going fast but dont people think before they start yelling wen im not even really speeding. i mean no cop is gonna pull me over for goin 30 in a 25. i would bet 95 percent of people go at least 5 or more over the limit. just venting because it has happened so many times to me and my friends recently; the most recent being 15 minutes ago coming home from a friends.

You need to wake up from your dream buddy, you drive a Civic LX. Grown middle-aged adults that own their own houses and have careers don't find it "nice". A cool teen car at best. They like BMW, or Mercedes.

Its nice to all of us, but to them they couldn't give 2 ***** less about it.

Having said that I see your frustration, and I advise you to just drive by 5 M.P.H holding that middle finger up as high as you can. Its not our faults they are too old and cripple to be able to drive the speed limit. (joke) The people yelling at you are probably the kind of drivers that pull out infront of you in their old Cadillac and you are just like "Oh god" while they do 49 m.p.h on the 55 m.p.h. interstate

I get hounded by these ladies that walk at night in my friends neighborhood to slow down every day even when im going 15 and below, the point is that you need to get over people man.

 

Stupid people feel more engine noise = traveling faster. Happened to me in the my Malibu all through high school, always by the same people too. Then they blamed it on me when my dad was driving the car, and he then told those people off and they stopped (and moved lol).

But yeah, nobody thinks your Civic is a nice car. Some people might, but seeing as you're 17, most people just think you're a spoiled little brat and they already hate you.

You drive an 06 LX, no wait, you drive a CIVIC, get over yourself... They might be telling you to slow down because there are kids in the area, they dont like the sound of your car, or you are just driving too fast in town... I would be pissed if every day some kid in a loud *** car drove down my road, technically speeding... Your in town...

ofcourse we're going to get looks from people (im 17 also). the people around your street mad because they hear your car, when you stretch 1st gear. i mean its not like they were able to tell you were doing exactly 5 mph over the speed limit.

do you have a dog? if so, walk your dog casualy to their house and ask them why they were yelling at you. if you dont confront them their just going to keep bitching at you, but if at least see what their problem is im sure you guys can work something out.

no one on my street gets mad at me, but its a pretty wide street and people usually do 40 like me. so im not out of the ordinary.

technically speeding, but going the same speed as all those adults that get pissed. and its an lx its not even that loud even with the exhaust. the lady that yelled at me today literally paused to take a look at my face before she yelled, realized that i was a teen and then yelled. had i been an adult i would bet she wouldnt have said a darn thing.

I understand, and I was there once... They really get mad when you take a corner hot (or any speed faster then like five mph) they look at you and yell at you... She might have just been looking at your face to know who you are, so that when she sees you in person she will chew you out... Your car is louder then others, I am sure that is the major reason... When you drive by there do the same speed but put it in 5th gear... If she still yells, go and apologise (say you are sorry first, then explain yourself) then expain how fast your doing...

i have yet to be yelled at on my own street, the streets i do get yelled at most commonly on everyone usually does 40. as well. i know im not one of the people who fly down the street all day, but people on this particular street never seem to yell at the older ones in their suv's going 40+

I find this kinda' iffy only because I am sure you dont see that many cars doing 40+ down that road while your doing 30...

But you did raise another good point, they might not know you, who you are or what your about... But they know the other people in the other cars... So they are more likely to get mad at you and yell... Especially since your a new driver... I would say go expain yourself...

ive been wanting to stop one time and tell the person how fast i was in fact going when they yelled just so they feel like an ***. but im afriad of confrontation since if they really wanted to be a jerk they could and they could eventually turn in my info to the police and there would probably be cops sittin around the neighborhood with speed traps. and that wouldnt be worth it.

well the only reason i know not many other people get yelled at is because this is my best friends house which im at basically everyday. we always comment about how people fly down his road. yet never see any neighbors getting mad at them untill the teens come rollin around not even goin as fast

 

Sounds like you should just go down and explain yourself... Or take it easy down that one road... You could always do 10mph down the road waving hello to them, lol

the next time it happens i definately think i will confront the person especially if im with a friend. if they know how fast i was truly going maybe they will think next time before they single out teens just for having new cars.
and its not just me, everyone of my close friends has been yelled at a few times at least. same situation

i was just thinking with a friend only because it would be easier to talk to the person not bein by myself. i dont want my friend to be like a witness for me or anything cuz i know they will just think he is trying to cover for me.

 

If your gonna' be mature about it, dont wait for them to yell at you before you explain yourself... They will already be on the offensive and thinking your going to attack them (verbally)...

If your going to take a friend, walk there or drive there and pull over... Knock on the door, ask to talk to whomever... Be calm, think before you speak...
