Lets hear it...Who's gone down before? Remember peeps, there are only 2 types of riders...
As the old saying goes... there are only 2 types of riders...
"Ones that has gone down (me...couple of times)
And there are the ones that are going to go down."
This is a dangerous sport and everyone has dropped a bike or gone down with the bike or whatever. I will tell my story and hopefully this will be a wake up call to all those rider wannabes who want fast bikes and think they are going to be a Mladdin, Yates, Hayden or Bostrom on the streets.
A car suddenly cuts off a Ford Explorer in front of me and back end jacks up while I was going 65 mph on the highway. I had just hand waxxed my baby for 4 hours and I was going to show it off to some buddies. It was 95+ degrees and I decided that wearing my leathers was too hot. Big mistake...
Anyways I panic like a dumbass and did a serious rookie mistake. I should of dodged the situation by going on the shoulder but I didn't. Instead I jam on the front brakes and I accidentally pull on the throttle in doing so. As the bike jerks because off the throttling on/off, my left hand slips off the clutch and I full throttle into the back of the truck. (Note: If I took the MSF course, I would of learned how to brake properly btw)
Well I almost dodge it because I try to dodge the truck by going to into the next lane. As I said *almost* dodged it.
My left handle bars clipped the right side of the truck and the handle bars immediately turned to the left as I was switching lanes to the right.
I freakin highsided into the back of the truck while my bike kept going by itself in the middle lane. I was watching my bike go while I was in mid air and that is when my face smashed head first into the rear bumper. I then ended up underneath the truck and thank god the driver put it in park or I would of been runned over.
My bike fell on its frame sliders and slid for 20 yards. And I laid there staring up at the sun in total disbelief. Not to mention that everyone on the highway is staring at your you on the ground in shock and horror.
I luckily got out of this unscathed because I had a helmet, armoured gloves, a windbreaker like jacket, boots and jeans. All my clothing was tore up to hell and I had a lot bruises on me. But I walked away from that and learned a serious lesson in life. My life flashed before my eyes in exactly 1 second...
Let my mistake be a warning to those new riders who think it is all fun and games.

Damn bro, was that recent?
I have had two mishaps in my 5yrs riding. First time I was hit by a car and took a muddy ditch at 50mph. Just some grass burns and a dislocated shoulder.
Second time took a patch of gravel and layed the bike down on the left side. Unfortunately it went down on my leg and the footpeg stabbed my foot.
I had a joe rocket leather jacket, helmet and two layer waterproof goretex leather timberland boots. I have two strawberries on my *** the size of the palm of your hand, broke the 4th meta-tarsal in my right foot, have a hole in my left foot approximately 1 inch in diameter all the way to the heel bone. Luckily the doc was able to stich it back up after removing bone chips/fragments. I am in casts up to my calf on one leg and a goofy leather shoe after the cast on the right foot was taken off. I am wheelchairbound.........
But I am lucky enough to ride another day.
I cant stress how important protective gear is. If i had not had that jacket and helmet on I would have been MUCH worse off. It has been 2 weeks, still stuck in a wheelchair, and still sore as hell but ready to ride.
Everyone ride safe.

I was crossing a street in Ventura about 10 years ago.
I looked and it was clear.... I went and got to the center divider area.. looked to my right again.. and then i heard this SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEECH...
looked over and all i saw was a white hood...
I bounced off the hood, did a somersault in the air, two complete flat spins barely missing a sign.... landed on the ground and bounced twice...
shattered ankel, broken rib and bruised pride.. bike destroyed by the camaro...
no cuts, bruises, scrapes etc... just teh above mentinoed "problems"
I screamed so loud the passengers though i was a girl....
i remember looking up at the police officer that was gonna pull themover but she got there too late... and thought it was a guy.. but later read in the report that it was a woman... I SWEAR it was a black police officer and not a woman!!!!
i waited for the ambulance adn firetrucks to arrive.. my frinends came over too look at me and give me comfort as i laid in the middle of the street in the most pain i can imagine....
I never saw my bike again...
5 years later I now have a NINJA ZX6-R to replace my NINJA EX500R of yesteryear...
I went down.. i hurt.. i lived!!!

Been down several times, though none of them involved other vehicles fortunately. Correct gear saved me from any major pain...
1. Riding my CR250 down the street with new knobbies, rapped the gas too hard exiting a corner, spun up the rear wheel and lowsided. This one was the worst, because there were 2 cute girls on the sidewalk laughing at me. I just waved at them, restarted the bike and kept going, as nothing broke.
2. Again on the CR250, with the supermoto wheels and cold Pilot Race tires...again, gave it too much out of a corner and lowsided. This time it hurt...I was going about 35 mph or so, and the bike and I went for quite a slide. Didn't break anything, but I was sore for about 4 days after.
3. The dumbest one yet...on the CR250 doing slow wheelies in front of my house (full roadrace leathers/back protector). Somehow wound up very vertical dragging the rear fender, decided I didn't want to do that as I'm not good at wheelies, went to poke the rear brake to save myself, and missed it! Went right over backwards on my ***, and the bike went to the side landing on my foot. The back protector and MX boots saved me from anything more than bruises.
I think this bike is out to kill me...anyone want it?

i was supposed to have taken the MSF next month (though been riding for 2 years now and never dropped or layed down a bike on my own accord)... i wonder if it would have helped today... I made the road my slip-n-slide bitch today, doing a nice 30 yard asphalt skid today.
Can't sleep... hurting all over. i hate this. i thought once was bad enough

i laid down a bike merging over trolley tracks with oil on them at about 45mph. the bike slid about 70 feet, i slid about 50. i had a broken wrist, and that was about it; i was in full gear. helmet never touched the ground(!). this was after i'd taken the MSF course, too. still riding today.
Went down exiting a right hand in te dark whilst racing a friend. A car looked like it was going to trun on me and i fingered the front brake and locked up. Hit the road at about 60 or so, which is enough! Bike was smashed NWO though. Ex#sacaped with minor damage to my knees and hands.

f--k me dude... stories like that make me thankful for my *minor* injuries this week. glad you're still with us!
..and just when I think I want to sell I see people riding around, damnit. Maybe I can sell my bike to a friend so I can still bum rides when I get the urge but not have to pay for the damned thing in payments/insurance. heh. CEO of my company told me he might just have to make me sign something saying I won't ride any more cause he's afraid I'll get killed. (something about be valuable or something, haha)
So Stephen C, do you ride any more at all?
