Default Can any Honda employees verify this?

I went in for warranty work because my car is making a funny noise. According to them it's the front strut that is causing it and it needs to be replaced. They said I have to wait probably over a month because it is on national backorder and no dealer has them and there is no ETA on them at all.

Can anybody who works at a Honda see if this is true or not? They didn't even say they would call me, they told me I have to call and check myself if they get it in or not. That doesn't help me at all seeing as how they won't give me an ETA either. They didn't tell me what the part was as well; they just said it was on file in the system.

I am not a Honda employee, but it smells like a load of **** to me. I'll call my guy up there and try to find out.

Edit: Parts/Service was closed, but the GM of the entire store said that he hasn't heard of any such thing.

(According to the service invoice, they have me in their system as a EX, does that matter?)

My front suspension pops, dealer claims it doesnt, claims they have never heard of the problem, claims Honda Corporate never heard of the problem... Yet I still hear a poping sound...

I asked about them screwing a self tapping screw into my front license place and was told that by California state law they must do it... Well, I know plenty of CHP officers and I have been told that is a fat lie... I called Honda Corporate and they didnt sound to happy to hear about the lies... They are contacting my dealer for me to get my problems resolved...

i've had an issue with the left front strut from day 1. i can't reproduce the error when i want, but occaisionally the strut will make a shifting sound like its loose. i haven't taken it in because i'm changing out the struts (EX model). maybe i should before i do

Well, with mine, you really can't hear the noise unless you're trying to. I only hear it when I'm in neutral and I'm going about 5-10mph, because it's not loud enough that I can hear it over my engine noise. My ride has also seemed a little bumpy since I started hearing it.

Its not a bad CV joint, its just something rubbing against something, because it only happens when I turn a certain way or when I go over a speed bump or something, or get out of my driveway.

They just need to do a few minor adjustments

i took mine in two weeks ago for the popping noise. They couldn't replicate the sound so the service manager asked me to drive the car with him in the passenger seat. I did so and got the pop sound just once over a 4-5 mile drive. He admitted to hearing it and said they will look at everything again. All they did was "safety tighten" all the suspension components. The popping sound still happens but less frequently than before. I only have the problem on the front driver side. I was told if the problem continues or worsens, to bring it back in. I won't bother until the pop sounds happens more frequently.

being an Si 4DR owner & a Honda employee that is BY far and away THE most annoyance pest of the new Civics. i hear it often & its quite sad b/c i own the same type of car & yet i hear it day in and day out. yet when brought to service's attn, i get jack... partially cuz i bet they think im trying to get something for nothing being an employee and all.

glad to see threads like this one pointing out all the nuances of the new Civic however. one day Honda will listen & put out those TSBs like they KNOW they should be.

p.s.- my 100% Honda purchased/installed OEM foglight kit is now fogging when it rains or gets humid/temperate on the passenger side. the list continues i suppose.......

I want to call up the other dealers and check but I don't know the exact part. If they're screwing with me, I doubt they'll want to tell me the part either. Are they required in any way to give it to me?

Its not strange for parts to go on national back order, but they usally have a ETA release date when the part is looked up in the online locator. Its possible they have a problem with the vendor and are waiting for a fix to release the parts and they're not sure when that'll be.

I highly doubt a GM would ever know whether a part is available or not, not saying they couldnt find out, but they have much more important things to stay up to date on.

The guy wouldn't give me an answer if he didn't know.. He would simply tell me "To be honest I don't really know"

I'll let you guys know how it goes tomorrow I am taking it in the morning.

Honda is usually extremely good with warranty claims, they don't expletive you over, or at least in my experiences and family/friend's experiences.

According to Honda there is 17 of one side and 19 of the other in the US of just the strut. If they ordered the whole strut assy. there may be a backorder.

When I was at Honda we didnt regularly get ETA's for backordered parts.. and even when we would get an ETA it would just get pushed back.

For the sake of the parts deparment I can respect them saying its on backorder and that they cannot give a definite date, but they could : Put it on a critical status, and get one of the struts nsxmatt mentioned was in the US ,or, call the parts hotline and speak with a rep who can give a better estimate of when to expect the part to be avaliable again.

If its not a huge annoyance or saftey issue just wait a while and check back.

This problem in my opinion is in no way a safety issue, but it is a huge a annoyance to have your brand new car popping at the wheels like you have a bad CV joint.

I can totally understand that, and I agree. But if the parts are on backorder there typically isnt much a dealership can do besides wait. With something like a strut I imagine that the wait time wont be very long.

It can happen. I'm an assistant parts manager and I see it all the time.

As a matter of fact, the 17" continental tires for the '07 CR-V have been on back order for me for about 6 months now. This is because the tires don't come from Honda, they get shipped to me from Tire Rack.

However, I did check on the strut and strut assembly. Looks like I have both of them showing available right now.

I know this is totally OT, but if there's one former and one present parts manager in the thread, I was hoping I could get an answer.

I was looking at the accessory spoilers online, and I want the 4 door lip spoiler, but it says it will not fit the Hybrid model. Is there a reaso it won't fit the hybrid? I thought it would be cool to have the lower lip kit and a lip spoiler...the tricked out hippie-mobile...

Thanks!

My catalog doesnt show any accessory spoilers available for the 4dr hybrid.

However, the trunk lids for the regular 4dr. and the hybrid have the same part number. So they appear to be the same lid. Couldn't tell you why it wouldn't fit.
