accord head swap questions .....
My dad has a 92 accord with f22a1 with intake and exhaust, he loves his honda. drove the car 160 miles a day to and from work. he bought the car with a blown head gasket for 300 bucks but he loves everything about it. recently the motor went out on the freeway we dont know exactly what heppened but the accord is in a garage waiting to be fixed, i want to buy a low mileage f22a1 and swap but i want to know if i can use the later version sohc head and make it vtec, what ecu would i need? i think he would like the extra power, but i drive a crx and im not too familiar with accords can anyone help me ? thanks ht
I have seen anyone swap a f22b1 head on a f22a but there was a accord with a f22b dohc head swap you can also do a h23a or h22a head swap
my friend had a h23a head swap he said it was nothing but trouble leaked all the time
if its a daily driver I would just stick with the f22a you can drop in a f22a6 that has 140hp or do a h22a swap!

look in the FAQ in the Swaps section. You'll find links to H22A and F22B1 head swaps onto F22A blocks as well as a full H22A swap into a 4th gen Accord.
if you do a vtec head the wiring is going to be about the same. If you do a sohc it will be the same no matter which one. if you do a dohc it is a bit more complicated.
