Default seat belt lights come on when brake pedal is pressed...

I there, so I just purchased a 1990 crx hf....with some goodies. This is my 4th honda but this is a new probleme to me. Here's whats happening:

When I press on the brake pedal the seat belt lights come on the dash and the unit on the floor starts to beep....it goes away imediatley after I release the brake. I was told that it might be a bad ground, but I'm really sure where to start. Any Ideas? Also, the rear brake light doesnt come on when brake is pressed.

Well, obviously it's a wiring issue. The only thing I can think to do is to trace the wiring for the brake and seatbelts to see if they cross or are grounding or shorting out somewhere.

Does this make the control unit beep non-stop?

Also, the only thing I really even car about is that my brake lights don't come on.

Is that just a guess?....because you said that so matter of factly. The brake light fuse is not the issue.

thats what was wrong with my car when it did that. the buzzer means your brake lites arnt working so it must be in the wiring somewhere if its not the fuse.

That is a very helpful link....I havn't checked that fuse yet, and from the looks of it I'm sure that is the problem.

Its the stop/horn fuse located in the underhood fusebox. IIRC its a 20a fuse. I doubt your horn works either. hth

I had the same problem, but everytime I changed out the fuse and hit the brakes the fuse would blow again. Come to find out there was a loose wire touching my chassis., fixed that, no more issues
