I have a 1990 civic with the 1.5, base model etc...

After driving the car for a few minutes, sometimes 1 minute, sometimes 10 or so, the check engine light comes on. Then the car idles quite a bit higher, and stumbles a bit getting back on the gas etc...

How do I check codes with this car, and any guesses on what it may be? The car also seems to be getting poor mileage, but thats expected in this situation I guess.

 

to check the codes lift up the carpet on your passenger side footwell. there will be the ecu with a little led light. turn the car to auxilary power or whatever it is and count the blinking light. a quick blink =1. a long blink= 10.

 

is it multi port or dual point??? like gremice said, check the count of blinks until it stops.

 

same problem here....just replaced the plugs and air filter but needs a oil change. Possible I blew the o2 sesnsor but not sure. The CEL does not come one everytime I run the car, only once in a while. Strange....Is there a certain pattern the lights flash and then stop?? Also where can I find a list of the codes for a OBD1....thanks!
