Good dealer in AZ?
Hey guys, I haven't posted in honda-tech in a while, just thought I would say hi and share a story about my buying experince for an S2000.
So I currently drive a 2003 Lancer Evolution with a few mods here and there, been babied and well taken care of. About a week ago, I decided to get an S2000 because I wanted something smaller and more reliable down the year when I graduate college.
I went to cars.com and saw a few S2000 (keep in mind that I was interested only in '04s to '06s with low miles, but the '06s would be too expensive) and there were a few that I was interested in. After a day of calls and appointments to go to check the cars, I decided to go out and see these for myself. Unfortunately, most of the places sold their cars since they were good prices. I should have went earlier, but I was busy with work. So on my last trip, I see an 05 red S2000 with 17,000 miles at Right Honda, in Scottsdale, AZ. It looked very nice, with a good price of $24,995 as the asking price for the car, so I went in and talked some numbers: this is where the nightmare began.
I talked to one of the guys, I think his name was JC, and his sales manager Jose and they brought out their number for me. It was the usual high number, and we went back and forth. I think the first numbers that he gave me were: paying off the trade, $1500 down, and $578 a month for 84 months. I was like... "wtf are you smoking, that equals out to like $50k and last time I checked a 6.25% interest on a $25000 vehicle isn't $25000. This guy looks at me and goes, "where do you get your numbers from? Where is this $25000 for the car price come from?" I showed him the ad online for that exact car, and then he decided that it was not worth his time to give me just a fair deal. At first, I wanted $18000 for the Evo which I owe $16500 on, and just to give me the car at sticker price plus the tax, liscense and stuff. He rudely refused (acted like I was his "bro" or something) and says, that the best he can do is $1500 down, pay off the trade, and $489 a month for 84 months. HOW DOES THAT MAKE ANY SENSE??? I was angry and frustrated at this jerk off and decided to leave.
Later that day, I called back to get my old salesperson but ended up talking to the internet sales manager who was nice at first. I complained on how rude the sales manager was and explained to her that I had bought two cars from that dealership and all I wanted was for them to sell the car at the advertised price. At this time, I just wanted to get what I owed on the car, and just finance the sticker price on the car. She apologizes and says that she will talk to him and call me back.
She calls back later and says, that she called a Mitsubishi dealer and that the car was only worth $13000 and called the Evo a "soft item" in the market. Where does she get off telling someone that as rare as evos are, calling it a soft item? I was so fed up about all the b-s that this dealer had given me and I told her that I was just going to sell the outright and I thanked her for her time, but my time with this dealer was just not going to be any more of use. I was going to end it on a good notice, but the b**** decided to once again insult me by saying, "you can sell it, but it'll be on there forever." How unprofessional can people get???
Bottom line is: they obviously wanted much more then they were asking for and used the ad to get people in. The most deceving way to bring customers in. This was by far the worst service I had ever gotten.

Goto Earnhardt Honda in Avondale. They sponser the S2ki Arizona. If you tell them you're a member then they'll do their best to help you. If anything i'll get you set up with someone so that you won't have to deal with idiots.
If I were you, I would sell the Evo on autotrader or something for the price your looking to sell it for, you probably can get more.
Then look on autotrader to buy from a private owner. Possible cheaper price because you can talk them down and maybe tax break. Dealers are so lame.

Yeah that is a great idea. And then go to Avondale. Thanks for asking the question because i am here at NAU looking to do the same thing. i will probably be down there soon lol
