I've been in the process of fixing all of the mistakes I've made on my car. It's needless to say that I have my work cut out for me. I have been running 18" wheels on the car for about two years, [ Yeah, I know..
]and it's definitely time to go to a size that's actually sensible.
My question is: What tire size -should- I be running? For reference: The car is a 2002 Honda Civic EX Sedan. The car isn't lowered, mainly because I'm still deciding which setup to go with. It's either going to be tokico blues/ground controls or an eibach kit. I still need to do more research before I decide though- I'm going purchasing a set of 16-17" wheels/tires. The car is my daily driver, but it will be autocrossed on occassion. I have had experience with Toyo tires, but I have heard great things about Kumho. Any help is greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance-

Your car came from the factory with 185/65-15 tires on 15" wheels.
Your best tire sizes are 215/50-16 on 16" wheels, or 215/45-17 on 17" wheels. I would get the 17's for your car, because there are a lot more tires available in 215/45-17 than 215/50-16.
If you really care about autocross performance, and you don't mind replacing your tires every 10-12K miles, slap on the 215/45-17 Falken Azenis RT-615.
If you need longer treadlife, and you don't mind spending a bit more for top-performing, long-lasting tires, get the Goodyear F1 GS-D3 in 215/45-17. Almost as good as the Azenis on dry pavement, much better in rain, and should last 2-3 times as long.
If you care about purchase price, and you're willing to sacrifice some autocross performance, get the Kumho SPT in 215/45-17. Last as long as the Goodyears, but cost a lot less.

Bad advice.
That's MUCH too small, with an outer diameter about 3.5 percent (almost a full inch) smaller than the stock size.
Stick with 215/50-16 for 16" wheels, 215/45-17 for 17" wheels.
(Sounds like someone is into the "low rider" look...
