There are tons of sites that import US cars into places like the UK and Germany, but how likely and how costly is it to import a car from Germany (which I believe is LHD like the US)? and what agencies specialize in doing this?

Of course Im interested for purposes of the CTR, both the lovely EP3 hatch and the newer CTR 3 doors.

as long as the import vehicle has the same body and frame as a legal vehicle here in the US (like a J spec Type-R and an Acura RSX) you can get it registered and be legal with not too much of a headache.

you have to pay to have the car shipped, pay customs charges once the vehicle arrives by ship, pay your state motor vehicle dept to inspect and pass it, and then pay to apply for a VIN #. After all that is done and the vehicle passes your good to go.

no agencies, you just need to buy the vehicle and have them ship it to you in the us.

just make sure you can get compliance to enter it... i just started working at HONDA and i get so many call that people already bought the car and now there screwd cause Honda wont let them get the letter!

 

what do you mean by "Honda wont let them get the letter" ? you mean, you need special permission from the manufacturer that you'll be importing one of their cars?? ... i dont get it

 

ok here is how it works American Honda does not support Import or Export of vehicles from different Countries. (ex. Honda America and Honda Canada) i get calls from people who come from canada because cars are like 10k more so they get the smart idea to come by them over here....so when they are back in Canada to register their car they need to get a safety recall letter which is basically a letter stating the car is recall free and it complies with emmisions and everything of that matter. The only way to get it is if you are a citizen from the place you bought the car( people from canada wont have a US drivers license US registration and Insurance) and this is only with Honda of canada.... so any other country they dont even consider at all!!! they make people go trough customs and they usually never approve cars
