Sell the R before i head down to SoCal?
i'm going to be moving to the Riverside area in late august or early sept. my parents are urging me to sell the car just because they know there's a high chance it might get stolen down there. ultimately it is my decision and i REALLY do not want to sell it. i've put grips of money and hours into my car and i love it just as much as anybody else on this board loves their R. so to all the so cal R owners, should i take my chances or should i just sell the R and be happy i had it for as long as i have?
not only do thieves take our ****...but should they run our lives too??
**** that man...you love your car. just be careful and smart and don't let your guard down...damn..sorry guys. all these theft and horror stories get to me

I say just keep it. Be more cautious and more protective (if you aren't already). I bet you'll have a lot of fun down there with the R. Especially those Itr meets they have. Good luck.
Keep it. Buy a beater if you can, if not then take vast security measures (at LEAST an alarm with a pager). Take such precautions so that you can sleep at night. I can now.
If I were you, I would take a trip down to where ever your moving to and find a nice place to rent/own with a garage. Put a deposit down so you'll have a place to move in as soon as you get there.
The ITR goes straight in the garage when you get in town
Don't forget to transfer your insurance (plates, whatever) ASAP if you need to since you will be in a different state.

Cali isnt that bad... depends where you're at! Even in a nice city, parking at school can mean vandalism, theft, or just accidental dings... so its basically not safe nor is it usable for daily life. If you can avoid school or parking your car somewhere you cant keep an eye on it, i say sell sell sell! College Parking Lots = CRIMINALS HEAVEN!!
With the exception of perhaps the UCR parking lot, I've found the 909 to be largely ITR ignorant.

thx for all the comments guys. well so far on my car security wise i have an aladdin two way pager with all the goodies. i've also got an autolock. and yes i will be going down to the Corona area soon to look for a place. a buddy of mine said that he parks his prelude outside everyday and nobody has ever messed with it. well that doesn't say much cause he's got a prelude, but he said the corona area isn't that bad for car thefts. ahhh well, i guess it all depends on if i find a place that is gated and has a garage. thx for all your help guys. i'll let you knwo soon.
Leave your ITR in a garage at your parent's house in WA/NW.
Buy at $3,000 beater.
You will regret taking it down to Cali, especially if you're renting an apt. If you have a house, that's a complete different situation...

ANother thing, don't post up on the board where you live, when you move down.
just kidding... be careful who you befriend on web boards though... i'm sure chris is a good guy. he would never want to do unto others what others have done unto him.
you need a garage.........I'm in riverside area and if you don't have a garage they will try something. Its just a matter of time. Layers of security is the only way.. The pager alarm is just the beginning. If you park outside, you need 200 times more security than that. Just a thought.......I say keep the R and have fun at our ITR meets and cruise to the meets with the Riverside crew hehehe.......
