Default What turbo for F23A1 seeking 400 HP?

I currently have a 99 Accord 2.3L, bored .020 over, CP Pistons 8.5:1, Crower Rods, Hasting rings. I'm running a modified FMAX kit w/ a T3/T04B at 15 psi. I believe it is a .53 trim and a .48 A/R. I believe the turbo is good up to about 350 crank which is about what I'm making. I made 303whp and 275 ft/ lbs of tq. I am just looking to go a little larger in order to keep the same power band. The car redlines around 6300k so as of right now boost starts at 3k and full boost is before 4k. I am thinking that a T3/T04 E .57 trim and .63 A/R will be the best bet. I am going for a standard journal bearing turbo also.

there are a number of turbos that could get you into that 400whp range...

T3/T04 57 and 60 trims
GT32 series
GT30R series
Borg Warner S200 series
Holset HX35

the numbers you stated sound probably best if you still want some low end. your gonna give a lil spool up though not a lot. i can get full spool with my SC44 .63 hot .60 cold sides around 3800-4000 with a 1.8. so you will be spoolin round 3400- 3500 i think.

i would do the .63/60 prob though. .82 would yield better #'s but dont think that is the spool you are lookin for.

whats your budget for the turbo... I asume your looking for something reasonably priced if want journal bearing?

the 57 trim is a good choice although you might have to run quite a bit of boost to make 400whp... then agian you have pistons and rods so thats probably not much of a concern.

I know its not a bandwagon gt turbo or whatnot but maybe consider the t3/ 60-1 will get you there for a good price as well, .63 a/r exhaust housing... you would see full boost just about 4k. I ran one of these on an f22b1 with good sucess, dynod 335whp on moderate boost with a stock valve cover to pan motor... just had a custom turbo setup, quality fuel management, and good tuning.

Thank you for the recommendations. I am going to stay frum the .82 A/R just b/c I don't have the rpms for it. I want full boost by about 4k or so since I will only have it for ~2k more. And I don't feel like pushing the stock redline. The head is stock. I am not really looking to make much more whp than I am; I am just looking to make the turbo work a little easier for the same power and maybe 30-40 more hp. I will also be upgrading the DP also. Right now I have the cast FMAX DP which is 2 3/8" ID I believe. I am going to go up to a 3" 4 bolt DP. The cat is already a 2.5 to 3" conversion cat which will become a full 3" cat and I already have a 3" exhaust.

well i would do the exhaust first because that might get you where you want to be with just that.
