RACE GAS (VP RACING)
well im not talking like a full tank. just a couple gallons. just for specific races. you think it wouls be usefull... or do you think it would harm something in the motor?

hahahah
but seriously, u can run it but to get the most out of it u need to be tuned so you can take advantage of the ign. timing.
remember if you run race gas you will damage your cat. run 76 pump 100 and you will be kool but more then that then your car will be in trouble

I was on empty so I ran a gallon of 110 one time just to see. It was a noticeable difference once it got going thru the fuel lines. Just don't continuously run it or else you'll need to replace your o2 sensors.
octane is just a detonation safeguard, its not a power adder. Using it isn't going to help power unless you can tune and adjust timing to get closer to that "knock" range. If you use too high octane for too long, you can wash out your rings but thats a severe case before it would happen.
I suspect the butt dyno's that found significant gains with higher octane need some calibration... Maybe on a real hot day when running the car a long time, but without a tune its not doing much if anything.
Using higher octane on many stock tuned cars will actually hurt gas milage and such more than help anything.

We'll just have to agree to disagree I guess... lots of people on both sides of this discussion in the past.
I've done a good bit of EFI tuning with N/A and turbo setups, different octanes and even alch injection setups. While I've used higher as a safeguard getting a rough tune, or to squeeze a bit more by adding timing, I've yet to see it add horsepower because the stock box won't add the timing to do it. I'd love to see the direct dyno pulls and it would be fun to do... Just keep in mind you can run the same car on the same dyno, same time, same temps and its gonna boucne around and vari each time.
If a car wasn't running cleanly and was getting knock running 93(which it shouldn't), then it would help. But that just would show that there is something else wrong.
So who is up for an experiement? I'll bring the beer

Are you kidding??? What he said is right. Octane does NOTHING for Hp unless you tune on it. VP makes "VP Import" gas that has oxygen in it to make more power but the high octane will not help with power, **** it may hurt because it is not burning all of the gas each time it sparks. Put it this way, higher the octane harder it is for the gas to start too burn.

both are right both are wrong...
yes depending on the motor.. such as a higher comp N/A or boost app.. adding a higher oct. fuel will do a number of things... but it will give it a silght increase , nothing CRAZY but it will give it a kick in the butt..
now being tuned for it to take advantage of the timing(before knock) is of course the way to get the most out of it
