Default NEW S2K owner! problem with tranny i think

alright, i just bought a really nice 2000 S2k and everything is great except i notices when im in 2nd or 3rd gear and i let go of the gas at like 2500-5000 rpms and still in gear, i can hear the tranny i think, because when i place my foot on the clutch (but dont push it down) i can feel a REALLY strong vibration coming from it. once i start hitting the gas its fine and changes sound tone as well. any ideas? thanks!

You know, I just swapped out my clutch on Sunday and I have the same problem now. Never really had the issue before.

What do they replace or do on the TSB anyways? Anyone know? The car is going back on jack stands on Sunday.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Remove the transmission (see pages 13-5 through
13-11 of the service manual).
2. Replace the clutch disc (see pages 12-7 through
12-11).
3. Reinstall the transmission (see pages 13-66
through 13-72).
4. Test-drive the vehicle to make sure it operates
normally.

Newer clutch disk, with stiffer springs supposedly.

Well I have an aftermarket clutch right now. Everything is perfect except for the stupid noise on deceleration. It's loud as hell. What else should I check?

What kind of clutch first of all? Sprung hub? And you're definite that it's coming from the clutch?

Stage 1.

I'm pretty sure it's coming from the tranny, the symptoms are similar to the clutch buzz. When engine braking around 2700-3900rpms there's a loud buzz, sometimes sounds like some metal spinning. Hard to explain. and predominantly in 3rd and 4th gear. it happens in 2nd also but not as loud. But soon as I push down the clutch or give it a little gas the noise goes away.

I've had good experiences with a Spec clutch on the shop S14 Silvia, but that was a Stage 4 Kevlar with an unsprung hub. I'm pretty sure your problem lies in the clutch springs.

It drives fine though. So you're telling me I'm going to have to take the whole thing apart again?

The thing is, if it drives fine, and just sounds bad, you're having the same symptoms of a pre-TSB 1st gen AP1. It's annoying but doesn't seem to hurt performance. Taking it apart and putting it back together probably won't do much either; your only probable option is to switch disks.

Damn you Dang, You're no help at all. You're not telling me what I want to hear. ROFL. The sound is quite annoying hahaha. But the clutch feels good and she drives good, so I'm happy with that.

Sorry sweetie, you're a sexy half-breed and all, but I don't like long distance relationships, so you're not gonna get any sweet talk whatsoever. Have fun!

to the OP.. clutch buzz as stated.... you will get used to it...

mama smurf, let it go by a bit and it will go away most likely.... then give it a few toasty events (burnout/launch)

300 miles to go before I can push it. hehehe. It would be nice if it does go away.

I've had clutch buzz for 10k+ miles now running a comptech flywheel with an ACT pressure plate and a stock friction... Doesn't hurt anything, just noise. I live with it and chalk it up to driving a noisy uncomfortable sports car. heheheh, the gear whine drones it out for the most part anyways.

hehehehehe, dang sports cars.

i just got an 01 with 60k miles and have the same noise, i thought the exhaust was loose but the vibration goes through the hole car, so i thought it was a bad engine mount.
