Default AC on = Car shuts off?

I have a boosted 96 Prelude, and whenver I have the AC on for 30-45 minutes straight while driving, all of a sudden it will feel like someone tied a rope and is pulling you back. You have no power and whenever you give it gas to try to go, it just dies. Then when you turn the AC off, the car starts back up and can be driven.

Anyone know what could be the problem?

perhaps your compressor seizes up when it gets hot.

hard to imagine that the belt would be able to stop the engine altogether though..

thats weird man. the compressor seizing is possible. i have seen a seized compressor lock down a motor before though. but it was on a chevy pick up with a bigger belt. i would think a little belt like yours would just burn off but you never know its possible.

how does the a/c work? does it work well?

curious if your pressures are gettin a little too high causing excess force to turn the compressor. if the pressures get too high it will usually cause the a/c to feel like its not working or barely working
