Default Subwoofer in an S2000?

From what I can tell, none of the S2ks came with a subwoofer installed from the factory (and I searched as well). I'm looking at buying an S, and wanted to know if any of you guys had managed to fit anything like a BassLink under the seats or if you were giving up what little trunk space you had for a subwoofer if any of you have them at all.

RSX type S sub. I havent installed it yet but it fits in the spare tire so it saves space. But i cant use my spare anyway since i have the rollcage.

So there isn't any space under the seat to get one in? I haven't had one out to eyeball it and haven't actually seen a basslink either.

i have a bazooka tube that fits nicely in the trunk, how do you get the sub output off the stock head unit?

If the stock S2k headunit has another set of A/V outs you can just plug the amp directly into those, or if you have an amp capable of using low level inputs you can do that as well (not that I've had a lot of luck with them).

I only know of one person who had a small sub under the seat. I do not know details nor can I find the thread - but it CAN be done?

Better to ask s2ki - thats where I saw it....

Ricey, take a look at the Electronics forum on http://www.s2ki.com. There's a great FAQ there that gives into about popular subwoofers for the S2000.

The RSX sub (Bose) is reportely not too good, as you won't notice it much. However, if you're not looking at anything really thumping, it rounds out the sound nicely.

I don't have any myself, but I have been reading up on it quite a bit. The other option is a standard subwoofer that goes into the toolbox/jack area. You can remove all of them, wrap them up in a blanket and put it in the spare tire. This retains almost all the room that was there stock when you have the sub there.

i have one of those but it's stil not installed b/c i want an aftermarket HU to go with it. if you wire it with the RC connectors to the stock Hu, what you are doing is trying to magnify a weak power output.
instead of fealing bass you might hear a weak punch----and that's to answer pepperinyoureye's question

It would be a weaker signal than an aftermarket radio, but it will not be a weak punch. It will sound fine with a good amp and sub. I dont see why anyone wouldnt get an aftermarket radio though, much more features.

if you are going to put your amp on your factory head unit, use a line-output converter. it splices in with one of your speakers and turns it from a high level to a low level output so you can plug your RCA cables up. there like 25 bucks at a best buy.

My contribution is the fact that a keg fits in the trunk just nicely.

When I had my ITR, I wanted to keep the clean stock look, so I opted to keep the stock headunit. The sub still hit pretty good.

For the record, a basslink is a great low maintenance sub at a pretty decent price with great sound, however, it will not by any means fit under a seat!

We have a subaru with the optional factory 6" sub under the driver side seat. It's not crazy loud, but it sounds great inside the car. It's slim and works with the factory system. A+ IMO

For stock radios, I just remember that RCAs were always a better connection to an amp than a high level input from stock speakers to an amp. Better sounding, less hassle everything. Dont know if that converter thing from Best Buy is a new thing or an old thing. Whats the final verdict on stock radio hook up with the bass link? High level input or RCA?

i did a search on s2ki and all i got was mixed feelings about this. the info i posted above is what i got from there.
